Because I hate it when bad haters give other good haters a bad name by being ignorant. Now: I will explain.
I do NOT have all the answers.
I am NOT an official writer for the characters, and I will not pretend that I can even write them perfectly myself, (although I've been told that I actually DO write them well.)
But there is a difference between not knowing all the answers (something impossible) AND NOT KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT THESE GODDAMNED CHARACTERS.
These people do not know how to write the Sonic characters enough to save their lives.
Yeah! Because it's TOTALLY in character for Sonic to act like a complete WIMP for the sake of shipping right? 8Supprigingly I'm not even talking about Archie, I'm talking about somebody on DA here who is making a fan-ship that I actually like loom like CRAP becasue she doesn't understand the characters at all!
Sigh.
It's annoying, becasue when this idiot is done ruining the part of the fanbase I follow, we all get a bad name just becasue they are ignorant. And it doesn't stop there: not only do they know nothign about the characters in general:
[Their versions of Sonic and Shadow are so out of character I had to stop watching them and I almost rage-fit whenever I end up on their profile
but they also turn around and try hating other characters based on their own skewed idiocy.
THEN they are the same idiot who has a fancharacter based on the one that they hate so much and they actually try to pretend that WE'RE the fanbrats when we notice that her lil recolor is exactly of the one that she hates 9__9;
Sigh. hate people. HATE people.
So sorry for the lil rant, but research the characters before hating or else you look stupid -___-;
You don't have to be perfect, but at least get the basics right.
I HATE what you've done to my Sonadow shipping D<

I know exactly who you're talking about now. A lot of people immediately think archie.

SO AGREE! And what's that in Sonic's hand on the picture? MARRIAGE FOR SALLY ACORN? Since when was Sonic in a rush to get married?
And Bunnie is 14. Why is SHE married?

Well, he DID lose his girlfriend who fought alongside him to liberate their country for years, since their childhood in fact.
Sonic or no, I think anyone would be upset by that.

I don't think that's what she meant for this stamp.
The plot itself of Sallying was >''force to marry/didn't want to marry but had to in order to keep peace/hope.''< marrying, (who is it this time, Shadow?) was unneeded, and portrayed Sonic as someone who wasn't even remotely close to him.
First point, I doubt Shadow needs to marry Sally, in order to become king. At all. He could just waltz in, claim it, and throw her aside/keep her a prisoner. In fact, that would literally be in character the most prior to Archie's portrayal.
Second point, that was contradicting Sonic's whole character to seem, someone not himself. At all. Thats probably the Stamp writer's beef as well as mine with the issue, to SatAM/archie's portrayal.
I don't like SatAM writers or Archie writers diluting Sonic in order to make Sally the 'women are wiser' trope, or the 'smart and rational one.' Let alone add onto, or exaggerate Sonic's or Sally's flaws/personality in order to seek balance and to make it work.
> SatAM, I loved, however, it made Sonic appear to be a big man baby simply to make Sally seem more necessary and appealing. (When in reality, it just seemed like Sonic was the baby and Sally was the wise babysitter.) Not to mention, name the times Sonic HADN'T gotten into deep trouble simply by not heeding Sally's information clearly, didn't listen to her, or simply just disobeyher?
>Sonic Archie: It was either:
Making Sonic a bit dumbed down, more brash, and fast than he usually is, and was ever to bring up and out Sally's merits.
Making Sonic seem like the babysitter/sole contributor to SonAlly and Sally's personality.Β
orΒ
Making them both, mostly Sonic, angst-y and nothing without his 'soul mate'.Β
Though, I do see your point on how anyone would be upset by it.Β

Sonic never really grew of being that "totally hip and radical" character of the 90's. Well, sort of. They mostly replaced it with generic anime coolness that makes me gag and roll my eyes.
I don't mind him being childish because people who act like that are well, childish. And besides, Sonic was always meant to be a kid appeal character anyway.
Sally had her own baggage too like looking for her dad and leading the Freedom Fighters. Stress free, she ain't.
SATAM was written in '93 to '94 where Sonic and friends (that were only in the games before the show was a thing) didn't even have a voice let alone character at the time. And some (Amy, Charmy and Omochao.) shouldn't have gotten one.

Depends. What Sonic media Sonic are you speaking about when you mean that? Are you speaking about Sega Sonic, Sonic fleetway, Sonic satam, or Sonic archie?
To be honest, if you only meant one media form, for me, I actually thought that all of them were cheesy and at least had one or two of their 'turn off' moments.Β
Sonic X Sonic stated the obvious, and some of his jokes made you want to cover your face with shame.
Sonic in the games had cheesy and cringe worthy lines.
Sonic comics' Sonic had cruel humor; which turned me off mostly. Especially when aimed at Poor Tails and Porky. It wasn't cool to me at all. It was obnoxiously rude, mean, and arrogant. ( In other words: OW THE EDGE-)
SatAm Sonic had made me cringe sometimes with his "jokes" and "humor" as well as the rest. Some of his phrases were redundant and stale. (But then. I never gotten tired of the, "I'mmmm waaaiiittttinnng." I'd always mock that Sonic phrase when I was younger.)
I know. Sonic is a childish person at heart. I don't mind him at all being as such. What peeves me off is how dumbed down/childish he is simply to make a relationship work. Sonic is in no means dumb, nor dependent on another voice of reason. With satAM's Sonic, I couldn't really take him or his character serious under any means. He appeared to be a 'man-baby' that needed baby sitting or else he'd get into deep trouble. He has his times functioning without Sally, calling HER flaws out, and displaying competence in tactic/rationalizing, but its rarely called out or present itself.
I really never meant to imply that Sally didn't have it rocky either, but I was overall speaking about characterizations with Sonic. To be honest, dealing with her personality, what I think that prevented her from going in depth of her flaws/struggles is how she is usually applied as Sonic's foiling mechanism, or his balancer. When they attempted to give her healthy flaws, (wreakless. Stubborn. Hard headed. Fast. Immature. Impatient.) it made her seem like an incarnation of Sonic. If this was so, then it would be VERY hypocritical for her to foil him IF she had the same problems (Archie tried doing this. It didn't really work for me.). However, the OTHER flaws applied that just made me love her more was her being insecure, not sure in her answers, emotional, can be overwhelmed, ect.
I fully believe that this was the correct way to flesh her out. I felt that THOSE flaws would suit her way better, and would do wonders with/to her personality. It would give her challenge, and much development. Although, we barely see this on accounting that, again, Sally is suppose to be Sonic's foil. Her being a competent, smart, rational, thoughtful, meek, strong, and a tactical leader already, doesn't really give her character ability to grow in the terms of personality, development, and character embodiment. Nor challenge. She's FAR from a mary-sue, but she obtains the traits that can over turn her into one if not maintained properly. (Archie writers have a knack of making her seem like a perfect 'bootiful princass' character that all should love!111!) Giving her little to no major obstacles and challenges that can potentially foil her character leads to her being a bit bland. Now this doesn't just go for Sally. Some characters in the freedom fighters have this problem as well.
Back on topic:
Anyways, I know she isn't stress free. No one is. Especially her. Dealing with her father, to help managing the freedom fighters.Β
True. Sonic never really had a voice in the classic era for games like CD. Tails either.
What do you mean about Charmy, Omochao, and Amy?

THANK YOU!!! God I had one this time who was an amy recolor who hated Amy with a passion, went on and on about how annoying and ugly she was, and had her character paired with, guess, Shadow. It was so annoying... And then she called Soul an Amy recolor, so that was weirder...
I hate it when I see fan fiction or comics where they have Sonic a total pansy and Shadow's super compasitionate when they go Sonadow. I saw one that had Sonic a crybaby who was afraid of his own shadow, and Shadow was super protective, so much so he punched Amy when she came to Sonic's front door...
Kind of filled me with fan rage. I love Sonamy, I love Shadamy, and I love Sonadow, so it's not couple things... CONSISTENCY PLEASE! I would kill for one person who writes a fan fiction with each characters PERSONALITY in mind. I try to do that myself, I really do. But my god it's not that hard to make sonic cocky, Amy energetic, and Shadow Vegeta >J< *sits in emo corner* I agree with your rage...it makes all of us Sonadow fans/couple fans/sonic fans look bad...

Judging by how badly Ian writes Sonic and the rest of the Sega characters, I can honestly say that even I could out-match him (not trying to sound overconfident--really, I'm not )
It's kinda tough to write a Sonic character's personality perfectly. But whenever I'm writing fanfics, I do my best to get them right. The problem is, there's some personal flaws in the characters that I just really don't like very much. Such examples would be that fact that Knuckles is gulible and so easily tricked so it seems like everyone picks on him, or that Shadow behaves indifferently to Sonic--is even annoyed by him sometimes--and doesn't appreciate his assistance or anyone else's for that matter, or there's also the fact that Amy is too clingy, Cream and Tails are too dependent on other characters. My list is endless
I always took enjoyment of writing the characters in ways I've always seen them. Not in a bad way, but a good way. Ways that make them seem better but not overly perfect . That's an idea for a good fanfic, right? Either way, this stamp is perfect.
Epic Win!

I'm no pro (I stink) at writing anyone in character, but I agree.
I'll say it, I'm warming up to Sonadow, (Or not starting to mind it, I'm simply starving for interaction between these two that goes beyond rivalry, romance is close enough) but after reading some fanfiction... Why is Amy almost always the bad guy? I read one where Sonic and Shadow were not affected by Amy's death at all- and were actually happy that it had occurred- I stopped right there.
Again, I'm no pro, but really? It seemed so much like a "Now that she's gone, we can be together!" kind of thing.
I'm getting a tad tired of reading fanfictions where "Amy! I hate her! Why can't she just go away?" pops up. It's just... THINK! If Sonic hated her so much, he'd let it be known! His friends wouldn't have let her attend that birthday party in Generations, she'd most likely be portrayed as an antagonist in the games, if Sonic had so malice towards her, it would be more prominent.
Great stamp~ I love how you used that background.

Soul had the same thing happen to her.
She was talking about "I HATE AMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" when her recolor was of Amy.
When I was a noob fan I made Recolors, ugly ones. And I acted like I hated Amy, but just for joke, not for real, and I stated this a lot.
