Immature? Maybe, but it's a fun name. Besides, I'm not talking about looking as if you were fat, 2014 Godzilla's weight is ridiculous compared to other Godzillas. Calling someone fat by their appearance is far more immature than insulting a fictional character that you shouldn't care about.

Don't being heavier make a far more formidable opponent
Sure he may not be able to rocket himself into space like the classic but being larger and heavier in my opinion is like the mountain from game of thrones (assuming you know who that is, not everyone does) armed with fireproof armour fighting a normal guy with fireproof armour armed with a flamethrower
Mountain would still crush him
