Description Wow it's been a while scince my last metroid figure haha I'm glad to be back to this busines that made me start with my artist career.
Anyway here is a hand made figure of U-MOS a luminoth , an alien species from metroid prime 2 echoes.
This was little sugestion from
They are friendly and very clever, but a meteorite crashed on their planet creating a dark dimension and a dark race known as the ing have caused them on the verge of defeat, then samus arrives and she decides to help them.
Ha well this guy was fun to make, I managed to add furr on his chest like the original, the painting was a bit difficult but I think it came out pretty nice.
Anyway enjoy

Haha, the king of textures strikes again - I like the way you did his fuzzy chest! It's also very shiny, because of the silver and the lighting, which fits U-Mos (or any other Luminoth for that matter) quite nicely. I especially like his bent pose, like he's fully into himself, thinking about how to solve the problem with his problem. Well done!

thankyou pal haha glad that you like it
yeah the fuzzy chest was a problem and I decided to ad some silver because it may be fitting to it exoskeleton
thanks again!

Wow, this is amazing! The only part that doesn't completely thrill me is the base, which doesn't look as texturally smooth or well-painted as the subject himself. Still, it's hardly the main attraction here, and U-mos looks fantastic. Great work on the whole!

Okay, immediately before checking my DA, I turned on my Xbox to play some Arkham City. I paused the game as soon as it loaded. I saw this sculpture, wrote my comment... and as soon as I posted it, I turned off my Xbox.

I've been stuck in this mind-set of wanting to create sculptures for people. It makes me fuss too much over the kinds of details that don't matter (like, does this robotic scorpion mechanically make sense?), when I should really just be sculpting with the intent of making something awesome. I'm inspired. It's time to sculpt.

you are inspired? great that's wonderful news, by the way how did you started sculping? what was your motivation?

Jester-Race In reply to kritken [2012-09-28 21:53:30 +0000 UTC]

I started sculpting when I was just a little kid; maybe four or five years old. Maybe even younger. My mom and my grandparents made home-made Play-Doh (which was always better than real Play-Doh) for me to play with. I made monsters with huge mouths filled with teeth which I liked to remove for some reason. I only have one picture of an early one and it's really hard to make out what is going on with it.

I had all of these tiny plastic weapons (ninja sword, sai, daggers) that came with a GI Joe set. The monster in the picture is a large blob with arms coming out of random places and at the end of each arm is one of these plastic weapons. Hahaha I thought it was soooo damn cool.

kritken In reply to Jester-Race [2012-10-02 04:30:20 +0000 UTC]

haha that happens I think that was cool I remember I liked to play with playdoh.
ha taking their teeth off well I guess you had a dentist spirit.
Arms from random places reminds me to cortez from paper mario
well keep up the good work
I started sculping beacuse I couldn't find any metroid stuff on stores so if I couldn't buy it I will make it myself

Jester-Race In reply to kritken [2012-10-13 00:37:06 +0000 UTC]

That's a great reason to start sculpting.

Similarly, I sculpted Beast Wars transformers that I wanted but couldn't have. I was really, really into those toys.

yeah now what I wanna try is getting some clay that hardens take an action man or max steel and with that clay make my own figures that would be great haha

My first reaction (out loud): "Holy f**k!"

O___O Wow. I can't believe you actually took my suggestion. And the amount of time that it took you-- I'm absolutely stunned. I don't know what's more impressive: That you managed to get the weird colours right or that this guy stands up. Seriously, he must have been impossible to work on with those skinny legs, bulky chest and head. I am so freaking impressed right now that I don't even know what to say. Major props to you, kritken. I hope that you never stop sculpting.

kritken In reply to Jester-Race [2012-09-28 19:54:37 +0000 UTC]

haha thanks a lot pal
Yeah about the skinny legs many metroid creatures have this anatomy, skinny legs and bulky upped body, for that I used a strong wire hanger, it was really hard do twist but it worked really good, I really hate when I'm making a figure and it sudelly starts collapsing to its own weight because the weak wire structure.
thanks pal grlad that you like it and hope you continues scupling too, now that pikmin 3 is coming there will be lots of creatures to sculp
