Another messy rakugaki, that I thought up after making the first one XD [link] I guess it's a continuation?? I wasn't gonna finish and submit this one, but I figured maybe it'd be good to have one version with Vergil's reaction. Or something like that (=w=Anyway. I kinda feel sorry for the guy this time lol, but Vergil is pretty merciless >_<; I guess he doesn't approve of the new guy either. :I
While I'm at it, as much as I love Dante, I think it'd be awesome to see Vergil appear in the series again. They're both my faves
though maybe Vergil a bit more...IDK <:3Well, I think I'll cut this 'Dante' some slack for a bit ...unless something else comes to mind...

In the end I decided to stop after Vergil and keep it within DMC3 
(DmC is supposedly set in Dante's 'younger' days, but we already have DMC3 set in that time...so yeah >_<)

Why couldn't VIRGIL be the protagonist in the newest DMC, he deserves a little credit. Plus blue trenchcoats are HIGHLY underpreciated.

Yeah... While I don't like NT's sense of direction as far as concepts and designs for Dante (especially) go, I guess they're not the only ones to get annoyed with since the guys at Capcom are the ones that give them the thumbs up to go ahead... Then again, it was Capcom's decision to make a reboot in the first place...hmm...
At any rate, can't really say they left a good first impression with that trailer. If that character was named differently and had a different role in the game, I'd prolly be fine with that...
Well, anyway, at least the majority of us still have 1 and 3SE (...and 4) to go back and enjoy if it all does go to shit... :S

I thought maybe NT added that there for the sake of introduction perhaps?? as some sort of representation of themselves (since they're new to working on the DMC series, well, first time a team outside of Japan has worked on developing a DMC game AFAIK, and as you know they are based in the UK), though...yeah...I dunno >_<; Maybe just have no flags showing up anywhere at all in the game if it's gonna be an issue lol *shrug*
Anyway... IDK. I just want to see our Dante back!!

It's a shame Capcom decided to ruin/reboot the series, I was secretly hoping for yet another Dante vs. Vergil showdown in the new game.

It is a shame indeed... Another Dante vs Vergil showdown, or even just with the brothers in the game (as in, not necessarily at eachother's necks) would be awesome IMO. The way I see it, there's still enough material to work with to make another game without having to reboot the entire series :S (as I keep saying, Vergil and/or Sparda, for instance, as well as Dante).

Strange how all this "DMC needed a reboot 'cause it was getting stale" talk started AFTER the reboot was announced, eh? I can't remember seeing ANYONE say/type that before Capcom released the news. Oh well.
Some changes, perhaps, were needed. Maybe classic Dante was the main character for a bit long, fine. But why change his appearance so drastically (or replace him with Nero, who was basically yet another Dante), while his stylish twin out there CLEARLY deserved his own game. Vergil did great as a bonus character in DMC3SE, his combat system could have been further developed, while his story ends with a cliffhanger in DMC1 and could use an epic epilogue. It's unbelievable they decided to leave all that and reboot the series.

As for your second paragraph, I couldn't have said it better myself. Personally, I'm not that big a fan of Nero, nor see any point of his character to be honest, unless they changed his appearance perhaps (why'd they have to link him to the Sparda bloodline let alone make him look so much like Dante!). On top of that, apparently in the novel there's hints as to him being Vergil's son? *cringe*. Anyway, Vergil is unique in his own way, despite being Dante's twin brother, and yeah, I think more could've happened before he ended up serving Mundus, and even after (I for one consider him still alive after the final encounter in DMC1). But yeah... this whole reboot thing is ridiculous.

I couldn't agree more when it comes to Nero. He was a weak, cowardly copy of Dante (it was damn annoying when he was all tough as long as there was no danger, only to burst into tears as soon as things started to go wrong), and the attempts to link him to Sparda through Vergil were just pathetic. Capcom's logic was apparently something like "Oh look, we've got a lame character nobody likes, so let's make him a son of the badass everybody loves! That will sure make him popular!".
Personally I never considered that novel canon. I'd rather think that the Order was wrong and that Nero had nothing to do with Sparda's bloodline. And when it comes to Vergil after DMC1, my theory is that Dante's final blow released him from Mundus' spell, but since he was obviously weakened, he just dropped his amulet so that his brother could use it against Mundus, and teleported away to regenerate somewhere safe. But maybe that's just my inner fangirl disagreeing for such a cool character to die so sadly.
It seems such theories are all that is left for the fans of the real DMC though. All this reboot appears to be a generic action game which accidentally got the same title - it's not just the damn hair colour, pretty much everything about the new Dante and the new DmC is wrong.

The fact that there are lots of things left for fans to theorise about shows even more that there's still more to work with in the current series, rather than having to resort to rebooting everything - just to give the game a western feel? Wha? *shrugs* :/ Also yeah, it's not just the hair colour! =/

I came across a rumor recently (the author claimed Capcom to be the source) that the reboot is an "experiment" of theirs and that if it sells poorly, they are going to make a real DMC5. I really do hope this is true. At any rate, this would be one of the most stupid "experiments" ever.
I have sorta mixed feelings when it comes to the "western feel" thing. I personally hate the mood of the DmC trailer, but on the other hand I also found DMC4 (and even DMC3 to some extent) to be a bit too anime-ish. DMC4 felt almost like an interactive anime at times, and while generally it's not a bad thing, somehow it does not suit the series IMHO. I wouldn't mind it returning to darker and more realistic roots of my favourite DMC1, which I think was quite Western in feel actually.
But I don't think any DMC is going to be that awesome, not without Hideki Kamiya as the director
