So Jigglypuff is based on Pudding and becomes Custard (Wigglytuff). Swirlix is based on Cotton Candy and becomes Meringue (Slurpuff). The Jigglypuff family and the Swirlix family are both fairies. Am I the only one seeing a connection here?

The PokΓ©dex entry for Exeggcute says that "Despite looking like eggs, Exeggcute is actually more closely related to plant seeds"....so yeah, they do explain that.
