I thought of you when I saw the Link's Awakening trailers

i actualy havent had a single console growing up! i only had PC games like gta and postal 2, worms, hogs of war, sims etc. ive played ocarina of time when i was 20, fell in love with it and suddenly i had every somewhat contemporary nintendo console, which, at that time, nintendo was NOT popular in russia. ill never forget the hoops i had to jump through to get skyward sword and wii mote+nunchaks lol. anyway, i played almost every zelda game and i really loved Links Awakening.
it was a very long way to say that i dont technically have the nostalgia and played it first on 3ds, but it is very dear to my heart and i think the visuals are REALLY cute in that "only 8bit games can really do that level of simple cuteness" way, ive spent so much time trying to replicate that feeling in my fanart... and im looking forward to the remake, but ill say right now that the visuals feel kinda weird and artificial in how try-hard "ITS CUTE!!" it is. its almost like yoshi's crafted world actually, the blatant artificiality of everything made me genuinely unnerved... plus in my head, personally, despite how adorable sprites are, i imagined the game more like katsuya terada's art for it, mysterious and epic rather than cute and homely. but like. thats just my bias and i actually wouldnt want them to actually do katsuya terada, it would feel so weird to me :V
i love sound design more, but the music is way too quiet and the melody's too understated for my liking, but maybe thats just the recording and the actual thing feels more like LBW ost.
Anyway uuuhhh yeah! im so happy LA is not forgotten, and i love the new content! im looking forward to it! im not looking forward to getting called nostalgiadrone for preferring GBC still!

I loved watching the speedpaint! It's always interesting seeing how other artists start off their drawing.
As for the piece itself, you captured the feel of Link's Awakening,especially in the color scheme!

I love Link's awakening visuals, they really did their best with GBC limitations, every place looks real and atmospheric, yet also makes you wonder how it would look like in real life.
