Experiment #: 001

Ripper Roo is Dr Neo Cortex's first victim of the Evolvo-Ray. His mutation was ultimately a failure, causing the animal to become psychotic. Amongst other features, he developed elongated claws which are sharp enough to rip through almost anything. Obviously too dangerous and unpredictable to handle, he was strapped tight in a straitjacket and locked away- but he's so quick that he bounced right past the unsuspecting henchmen guarding his cell. He's now out on the loose somewhere on Wumpa Island, though he seems to have a fascination with the large waterfall there and it is thought that he lives in a cave behind the rapid wall of water. He has a tendency to attack anyone who dares wander too close to his home.
Despite his love for explosions (he has an obsession with blowing things up using TNT and Nitro crates) and twitchy, nervous disposition, Ripper is actually highly intelligent. He has earned himself the title of Doctor Ripper due to his studies in psychology. His sane self is incredibly smart, though he lacks social skills (often snapping at others and lacking any sort of compassion) and occasionally experiences episodes of violent twitches. It only takes one explosion before he snaps back into his psychotic self, even strapping himself in his straight jacket before bouncing about on his tail- out of recognition of his insanity or simply out of habit, it is unknown. When in this psychotic state, Ripper Roo can only manage a manic cackle, despite his extensive vocabulary he gained from his studies.
