The wolf awoke with a start as she scrambled to her paws in a hurry. Taking a few steps without looking where she was going, Motyl leaped and crashed against an invisible wall... A wall of her own pain.Hey there everyone! Sorry for my inactivity but I couldn't resist drawing one of my favorite characters from created by the amazing ARVEN92 ! Congratulations on 1,000,000,000 pageviews I'm so proud of you!
I have been following her story of wolves that contained elemental powers to save the world from the evil Zodiac Demons.
Motyl was always one of my favorite, her kind personality and simple design really made her pop out as a character. So I decided to try drawing her in a tight and sad situation, where she was facing herself as the enemy. She has always been the one to comfort others but we have yet to see Motyl actually breakdown. So this was really fun to draw and see a different side of our beautiful wolf that everyone seems to love (inside and outside of the comic
)The title is a play on words of prism and prison, the prism being a prison holding Motyl back from her true self.
I do plan to draw one for Africa but I may miss the deadline as the next one will have a lot of detail too! >~< Hope you guys enjoyed!

Oh my goodness, this looks amazing! The colours in this picture are so pretty! I love the symbolism here, with the white light reaching the prism and being refracted into the rainbow colours, that recall the colour of Motyl's wings <3
And the way she is floating within the prism, recalling C.Y.'s chakra from the first chapter was an awesome idea! Plus can I just say that the fur effect is absolutely gorgeous??
It's also really interesting to give a more serious/somber theme to a character with an otherwise cheerful personality. We all have our bad days, and we all have skeletons in our closet, including Motyl

I have a lot of inspirations to be honest, but all for different reasons, for you, it's the dedication to continue creating comics, for many of my friends and I, we stop after page three XD So it's really amazing.

How do you keep it up though? Create the plot and still keep us in suspense while still making the pages flow so easily? I'd really like to know your secret X3 How many ideas did you have to scrap? :0

There's no universal formula actually, although I do recommend working on the story in its entirety long before actually posting the first page. By the time the comic starts uploading, usually the plot is entirely laid out in all its details, and therefore it's way easier to create the pages and structure them in a suspenseful way so as to compliment the story.
What you see on DA every week is only the tip of the iceberg, there's a ton of never-shown work that came long before that;
Don't be afraid to take your time, because what you create before posting the comic will end up influencing your future work. Africa took one full year to plan out before the first page was made, and my newest project, Azarian Stories, took over twelve and still counting.
