The accomplishments of men are swept away by the Wall
Deluge of foamy water, and debris
Tossing about cars,
Homes,
Lives like playthings
Strewn about,
Helter skelter across the broken land,
A cruel trick of Susanoo-no-Mikto

He laughs, as he hops merrily from building to building,
Wreaking havoc wherever he pleases
Far beneath my feet,
The earth rumbles
Waiting

Mother Nature has grown uneasy, abused century after century
She finally lashes out
Invoking her wrath upon the rock which I have my built my life
Drowning my ambitions
Choking my aspirations in the black water

The Vortex opens its gaping maw,
Eagerly awaiting a small fishing boat
To sate its hunger
Men pray on board,
To their families,
Ancestors
Praying for some small chance of survival

Tears mix with rubble and the brackish depths,
A splatter painting of sorrow
The inky black water, mixed with the red of blood
And the pale blue of tears

A masterpiece of destruction,
You have been brought to the underworld
Where I cannot reach you

To Inzami,
The first and last
With open arms,
She welcomes you

"Come child,"
She says
"It is over."

In your memory, I make a red paper crane
The color of a connection without words

Silently, I drop it into the glassy surface of the black waters
In time, Inzami shall claim me as well
For now I wait

And think,

"Seven falls, eight getting up."
