The time it takes varies from picture to picture. This one probably took a couple of hours. I've done some that took over 4 hours.
Yes, I do get mentally exhausted after some pictures.

Kayel the Hedgehog could use a little more work on his concept. He is basically a recolored version of Sonic. You should give him some original features. For example, Shadow is a hedgehog, but, unlike Sonic, he has a furry chest, upward-pointed quills and different shoes and gloves. Silver is also a hedgehog, but he has an original quill design as well.
It's important to give Kayel shoes and gloves that looked completely different from Sonic's. You should either change the number of quills he has, or the shape of his quills, in order to make him look sufficiently different from Sonic. I hope this helps.

I was going through my fav list, and I saw this pic. I`m still amazed by it. But the advice you gave me, it`s really helpful now. Back then, I couldn`t draw that good, but now I got better, and I`m going to re-design Kayel. He`s still going to be red and black, but I`m going to make him look like a whole new hedgehog!

Glad to hear it. It probably would have been a better idea not to make him a hedgehog at all, though. There's nothing wrong with hedgehogs, mind you, but it seems that they are far too common as fan-characters.

Yeah, that`s true, but I`m not too good at drawing other animals. Maybe he should be a wolf like my old fan character Dusk. I know I can make the heads fine, but it`s the bodies that I have trouble with.

I didnt re-color it though.
I just put the real picture as my back ground and I went on paint and I slowly
copied it.
It took me a long time and at that time,I just started to draw Sonic.
If you looks at Jackal or Auric,I made those my self.
Auric was done on paint too.
