Description The Tatzelwurm is a cryptozoological animal similar to a snake or lizard. This is my interpretation of the creature based on eyewitness reports. The Tatzelwurm is sometimes described as having a cat-like head as well as scales. Since mammals don't have scales, I figure that this creature is a reptile with feline facial features. For example, the horned viper is a snake with small horn-like protrusions above its eyes. If the Tatzelwurm has similar horns, they might give the impression of cat-like ears. This, taken together with slitted pupils and a cleft upper lip, could give a cat-like appearance.

Kryptid, this is awesome, but I don't see licensing. Were you aware that someone placed this in Wikimedia Commons as open use?

Ooooh, interesting...~tries to think of an animal that's about that size~ So.... I dunno, Boa Constrictor size?

Kryptid In reply to RubyDaSquirlz [2012-11-10 16:13:52 +0000 UTC]

Boas are longer and thinner than that, I'd think. I'd say a Tatzelwurm would be almost as long as you are tall.

This is a neat interpretation of one. I actually used a Tatzelwurm in my story, though I added my own twists to it.

good interpretation. so is this a real crypto, or one you made up?

It's "real" (well, the fact that it's a cryptid means that it "might" be real). Real reports of it hail from Austria.

I was, not so much anymore though. I think I must have lost my childlike wonder or something. Of course I still like to think there's an 8 foot tall ape man walking around the pacific northwest.
