Not many people play with water, visually, from this sort of angle, and generally, you can see why. It's probably hell to make it look different in respect to anything above or below the surface, but like, not as if it's a solid block of jelly or something XD But this is incredible, you've certainly done an impressive job of it! The way her hair looks all floaty is wonderful, and the slightly varied waterline around her figure. I expect the hardest thing to capture is the sense of neverending motion you get in water, because unlike an image, it won't ever be still, but yeah, you've done a solid job of it here
And, y'know, beautiful redheads are always a plus

Well, it really shows, the amount of work that went into this. Just looking at it and imagining all the stages involved makes my head hurt XD But yeah, the end result is fantastic! The twirly hair...'buoyant' chest lololol Nah, it's all good. Definitely not a perspective you see a lot of! ^^

I like the skin and freckles! Also I like the way you drew her hair, underwater stones and the water itself ^^ Excellent work!

Don't feel you have to "explain" the shape or structure of your mermaid drawing.Β She's beautiful.Β And she's completely fictional, right?Β Besides, who's to say where the human parts end and the fish part starts.Β Even Dolphins and Whales have vestigial "leg" bones and muscles believed to be left from evolutionary changes.

Excellent job on this, looks great
However it looks to me that the shape of the tail suggests she's got human legs inside the tail, or a slightly flattened tail that twists somewhat. Is thatΒ intentionally?

Shine of the scales and how the water acts around the tail, yeah. Cool to hear about the process
