Description Hey guys, finished Brigitte!

Was really interesting to draw a character that is both "cute" and strong (physically speaking) at the same time.

So I wanted to create a body that would fit the character, but still make her face and overall posture imposing ... and cute lol. Definitely an interesting body type to work with for a change

Hope you guys like it!

I'd say that you succeeded in both regards.  It's also a very human moment, which makes her relatable, so that's three areas where this picture is effective.

thank you! Usually I try to draw characters in a more "relaxed" moment that still makes sense to the character

Patrick-Leigh In reply to krysdecker [2018-04-17 20:10:41 +0000 UTC]

I think it's those kind of moments that can really define a character.  I mean, drawing a character in an "action pose" or in a combat situation can show their prowess in battle, but if you want to humanize them, you need to show what they do outside of a fight.  Showing a character maintaining their equipment, training, or just doing mundane things, like eating, reading, or whatever, is what makes them real for the audience.  I mean, sure we love watching Batman kicking butt, but if I were to draw him with the goal of humanizing him, I'd show him working at the bat computer with a mug of coffee in his hand and a half eaten plate of food resting on the console somewhere.  Or I'd have him repairing some part of his equipment.  Your picture follows that same principle.  It's the quiet moments, when a character is alone, that can really bring them to life.

yes, I like to think on different situations, where it makes sense to do a relaxed, some times sexy, more personal moment. I think there's great artwork out there showing the characters in "action". I usually try to focus on this other side of the characters. Like a bath scene, a relaxing scene, just laying back from the action .. things like that

Patrick-Leigh In reply to krysdecker [2018-04-18 22:21:10 +0000 UTC]

And you do a great job at it, in my opinion.  "Action" scenes are fun and can certainly be very challenging to draw, but to convey the humanity of a character, that takes real talent, so this picture is definitely to your credit.

The pic on her top made me laugh lol
Great work on the body, man! Skilled, as always Although I wouldnt call her face "cute" ... I don't know why ... maybe a mix of the hairstyle, the eyebrows and the dark red lips, she seems more like she knows what she wants.... but that's just my opinion

Yea, I had to check it on the Overwatch-Wiki since I know absolutely nothing about this game or character. You only paint characters from video games, novels, movies, etc. or do you also paint your own?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

krysdecker In reply to AnimalAsLeader [2018-04-15 18:57:43 +0000 UTC]

Most of my work is indeed fanart, but I do have my own character, Iris. You can find her drawings here: krysdecker.deviantart.com/gall…

I plan to expand her into other universes and styles like sci-fi, fantasy etc. Initially I wanted to stablish her appearance before making variations

AnimalAsLeader In reply to krysdecker [2018-04-15 19:46:38 +0000 UTC]

Cool! I've seen her before and tbh she's been my favorite out of all the girls you have drawn Is she some kind of a story character or just for fun?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

krysdecker In reply to AnimalAsLeader [2018-04-15 21:08:05 +0000 UTC]

no background story atm. I didn't want to tie her to something specific. She's more like a mascot of sorts for me to experiment different styles, practice and have more freedom to create. Fanart have the small issue of being "tied" to that character background and lore. So there's a limit on how much you can stretch the drawing before it stops making sense for that character. With her the idea is that I can create literally anything
