Description

So, which one is your favourite Witcher lady? Mine had to be Yennefer

I just love how high-spirited and sarcastic she is in the game. So I wanted to make her chilling a bit in Kaer Morhen. It was a different angle to make the picture, since I'm not used at drawing character from a "bottom perspective" but it was interesting nonetheless.

nice Yen artwork, thank you.

Is this Skellige?
I like Yen's alternative dress but for me it's unpractical in cold Skellige climate.

Yes, that would be a possibility. Or we stay with Yen and think about other scenarios, poses and locations. 😛

It's weird seeing Yen without gloves on. I was initially (and still am) a Triss fan but I decided to give Yen a chance in Witcher 3 but she quickly grew on me and now I can't bring myself to go with Triss in the game.

I really liked her story arc ingame, at least in the game, I found her personality much more interesting than Triss

The sarcasm among other things is what makes Yen a standout. It's also what I think why the Yen epilogue implies a long happy relationship compared to Triss. Geralt is restless in the Triss epilogue whereas he's completely satisfied in Yen's.

I saw the games before I read the books, and I have to say: Merigold.

I'm only a short ways into "Blood Of Elves" (First book after "The Last Wish"), but already Triss has ingrained herself deeply in the lives of both Geralt and Ciri. Though she calls her "Little Sis" in the 3rd Witcher game, she's more of a mother to Ciri than Yen is, and is definitely more concerned with Geralt's wellbeing. She encourages their better selves, as it were.

Yen's a forbidden fruit, as it were. She started off with a bitter core, didn't really care for anyone but herself until Geralt forcefully bonded them together with his wish. Oddly enough it seems that the witcher softened her edges rather than the other way around. She's been a manipulator and a schemer for a long time, and she's having a hard time letting go of that. She wants to, no question, but it's a change of personage that she'll have to undergo alone for it to be successful (which I'll say happens in the Witcher 3 after the option presents to break off with Yennefer after a djinn undoes Geralt's binding wish).

I don't want to spoiler to you if you want to read all The Witcher books but Yennefer has changed thanks for Ciri, Geralt and the Sodden Battle.

I don't agree with you that Yennefer didn't care for anyone. She helped a lot of people. For example she saved dwarfs family from the slaughter in Vengerberg.
She always helped The Witcher with monster contracts but she did it in secret because she knew his pride would be offended.
She bought Geralt's stolen swords for enormous amounts of money and returned them to him in secret (but the messenger spoke out).
I could give a lot of examples that Yennefer helped people disinterestedly. She had a difficult character, but she did not have a heart of stone. She also did a lot for Ciri and Geralt.

I also saw the games before reading the books.. but after finishing all of them i'd never consider Triss as Geralt's soul mate..especially not after finishing the very last book when both of them died by each other's side. They just seem like the perfect match to me even though she is indeed pretty stone cold (not like Geralt himself is any better). The reason for her being the way she is has been explained in one of the books and as it is the witcher was immediately drawn to her and not just for her looks because if i remmeber well he saw right through her magical disguise. As for Ciri.. if I didn't know any better I'd have said she was their child for real. Her attitude is somewhere in between Yenna and Geralt. I personally see Triss as the odd one out..an intruder and a bad friend. This is just my opinion .. don't mean to outrage any Triss fans out there.
All in all ... really nice drawing of Yennefer. Nicely detailed. Maybe a bit odd to see her with a smile on her face for a change )

Uh right .. sorry about that. should have included a "heads up, here comes the spoiler". To be honest it just gets to me when someone just goes for Triss because she's nice and that's it. There's just so much more than that and i can't even blame Yenna for the way she turned out. in fact i even like her ..I don't hate Triss, she's nice in her own way..anyway sorry folks didn't mean to ruin anything for you. In fact i'm not even that sure of the ending it's a bit confusing to me but i guess that's what the author was aiming for ..anyway read the books they are awesome, don't just go with the game storry

I think that the quarrel, which of the sorceresses is "better" does not make sense.
Both had disadvantages and worse moments and both had advantages and beautiful moments in the whole saga (books and game).
If Yennefer is closer to your heart, then create in accordance with your preferences.
I love the saga about The Witcher (books + games) and I am glad that a lot of people are interested in the world of Andrzej Sapkowski.
Good job, and good luck.

Like you said, in the end it's a personal preference. I think it's great when they create complex characters and the fact that a lot of people love or hate one or the other is a sign of job well done for me. For me, personally, I liked Yennefer personality more.

As long as people don't take all too seriously I think it's a healthy rivalry

If you did some art of Triss, I'd greatly appreciate it. Cerys, too.

I've been a big fan of your art for a long time, especially enjoyed your Overwatch stuff.

If you like lying, abusive, manipulative, selfish people; she's fantastic, none better.

If you like good, selfless, kind, brave, courageous people (like Geralt and Ciri), then it's not even close. Triss is one of the most beautiful characters I've ever seen (and I'm not only talking about her appearance). Her, Geralt, Ciri—that Kaer Morhen family—they're my babies. All so alike, cut from the same cloth. All deserve happiness together after what they've endured.
