Description
brb suicide fanart for *neofox and *Insanity-Icons ...again. I was listening to Devil in Disguise and I was all like...oh, hey, this reminds me of how Zim acts in brb suicide. MUST DRAW CUZ I'M A LAME-ASS. So I did draw it...cuz I'm a lame-ass. ...I like how Zim's wig came out. +_+So as to avoid a long-ass description thanks to me copy-pasting lyrics for Devil in Disguise into it, here's a link to them instead.
Zim n' Dib are copyrighted to Jhonen, who would hate me down to every last fiber of my ZADR-loving being. brb suicide designs are Neo's n' Kitteh's. Go love them. Now.

This is fantastic! I love how you portrayed both of their facial expressions especially Dib. It tells alot about the story even if you haven't read it yet

DUUUUUDE!!!!!!
The most awesome pencil work my eyes have laid upon!!
I'm a huge fan of the brb suicide designs, ESPECIALLY Zim's manskirt. *gigglesnort*
You've really captured their personalities well! I love their faces, and Zim's hair.
I'm amazed at how smooth this all turned out. You did use a pencil right? *awestruck*
How big is this? What size pencil?
Sorry for the questions, I'm very curious and want to learn as much as possible.
GAH I'm so haaaappyyyy!!
This looks so GREAT! The infinite bliss consumes me.
Thank you for drawing this! I was hoping someone would draw them in the brb suicide design by the amazing Neofox. Magnificent!!

Ha, thanks very much; I see a lot of mistakes in it now, though. I drew it nearly three years ago! o_o
All my stuff is drawn out with .5 mechanical pencils. Lends to making cleaner and sharper lines than the .7's. I've actually been wanting to look around for even smaller lead...

You're most welcome!
I know exactly how you feel, looking back at old artwork. =_= But they're good memories. ^-^
So you use .5 lead, there are ones smaller?! O_O Didn't think it'd be possible. XD
I should practice pencil sketches more, it was impossible for me to draw such small details. I guess I should draw the picture larger?
Which leads to my next question! (If I may, thank you for answering my other ones )
What type of paper do you prefer. I use to draw on printer paper (bad idea) and now I have at least 3 different sketch pads I hid under my bed (everything goes on down there X3). I should try drawing on them again, maybe I'll get better results.
Also I need to add, you must be %100 steady with your hands because smooth lines are NOT easy! You hit the nail on the head! Looks awesome possum.
Oh yes, since it's pencil drawn and of course must be scanned, I'm guessing you prolly had to mess with the brightness and contrast for the sketch itself to stand out (or darken the lines). I use this program called Photosmart Premiere to edit scans. I know you can use photoshop to them clean up too. But what do you do that's best?
My scanner isn't the best, but it's all I've got.
Before, any pencil sketches I posted looked so scratchy and unclean. ):>
I don't know the secret of it. Do you think you can give me some tips? Pretty please?
Thank you again for your time!

I'm pretty sure lead does come in sizes smaller than .5, but I could be wrong...
Drawing larger has its own complications; there's a lot more space you have to shade, and I've found it's a lot harder to keep proportions to scale. This piece was actually an enormous pain because of that, as it was bigger than my usual stuff.
I actually use printer paper, myself. Whatever I can draw on, I use, basically. Better media doesn't necessarily mean better art; after all, someone can draw a stick figure on the highest quality paper there is and then color it with the most expensive markers you can find, but it'll still just be a stick figure. So, use what works best for you rather than worrying about paper. ;]
And my hands tend to be very shaky, to be honest. My initial sketches are a mess; I just keep an eraser handy to fix up all the mistakes as I start the finished product. xD Another thing that helps smooth lines out (and smooth out shading as well) is a tortillon or blending stump, though those can often lend odd, cloudy-looking textures. (Like on Dib's shirt - it makes me mad just looking at it. DX)
I never use the actual scanning program to fix up my pictures; they always turn out terrible. I import them into Photoshop and adjust them from there.
And don't worry about sketches looking scratchy/unclean - they're generally supposed to look that way. They're just sketches; and to put it into perspective, here's what MY sketches normally look like: [link] It's so unbelievably messy (and on lined paper to boot)! D: So worry more about finished works rather than the sketches. If it's of any help, when working on a sketch I actually want to finish, I avoid further smudges by putting a spare sheet of paper under my drawing hand. (I also might use it for a little bit of shading practice.) And if I don't do that, I try to work from left to right, so my hand doesn't rest on what I've already drawn.
Anyhow, from what I can tell by looking at your gallery, you seem to be being just a bit too hard on yourself. Your lineart is more or less clean from where I'm standing. Only saw one complete pencil work, and it looked pretty good to me; I actually don't see why you stuck it in your scraps. o.o

Well I hope you can find smaller lead then!
Yeah I have that same problem, it's difficult to draw "bigger". Proportions get outta hand. =_= It does have its benefits because you can show more detail, which you did great with!
Oh! I see, *mental note* better media doesn't mean better art. Gotcha! I've been using printer paper again because, it's all I can find at school. It's really not that bad, so perhaps that's one less thing to worry about.
Really? Yay we both have shaky hands! I keep 2 big erasers with me all the time. XD
Oh yeah, I do have one of those blending things, rolled up in the shape of a pencil. I kinda stopped using them and used my fingers instead, but that means keeping track of what fingers you used so you don't smudge the rest of the paper. >.<
Dib's shirt? Ah don't worry about it! It looks just fine! Btw, the little antenna on his shirt, did you erase that to make the pattern?
Ah ok, edit in PS. Just so you know, this pic looks as if I'm looking at it in RL! That's not easy for me, I'll have to see what my options are again to mess with it.
Lol! Yeah sketches are supposed to be sketchy. (pun intended XD) This is more like pencil art, it's very clean and well detailed! I should give it another go.
Yes tis a very good idea to use another sheet to keep from smudging on accident. To avoid that I do try to start on the left, but you'd need the paper anyway when you go back to clean it up or add more to it. *shrug*
Aww you're too kind! I admit I am skilled with the tablet. This picture made me nostalgic and I remembered how I use to make pencil drawings. It seems impossible to go back, but we never forget how to ride a bike. ^-^
GAH! Yeah, that one hehe. That was from way long ago, I can see many mistakes. Thank you though!
Thank you so very much for the tips!! I now feel more comfortable with what I'm doing.
Great work you've got! Keep it up!

The shading and texture are fantastic, and you've captured Zim so perfectly! Not that you haven't captured Dib perfectly, it's just that I rarely see people capture the essence of Zim so well. ><
They way you did the hair! It looks so soft! The texture of the clothes! Amazing!
