Got a friend who loves Minecraft? Sneak up behind them when it's dark and make a loooong hissing sound - they'll get a KICK out of it!
Attempt at a 'speed' painting [which took 45 minutes] of a Creeper, because they are appropriately terrifying for use in a Halloween picture. Great job, Notch.

Honestly, Ghasts are far more destructive.

But the Nether isn't as easy to get to, and thus Ghasts are not a near-constant and/or immediate threat. :\
(I agree, though, that Ghasts are far more destructive, and also they are twice as terrifying.)
