Beautifully done! The different sizes and colours of the crystals work nicely together with the byzantine and helm. What are the jump rings made from?

Actually 18 gauge on the helm, not 16

Thanks! It is made from 20 gauge bright aluminum (and 16g on the helm). Makes for a very lightweight piece

Yeah, I saw after I wrote that. I love making large maille pieces out of aluminum! Everyone thinks it is much heavier than it is and then they pick it up and they are surprised!

True. I started out making armor out of the stuff and it was much nicer to wear over steel and of course doesn't rust like steel does.

I have mainly done jewelry, but I plan on branching into armour for cosplayers soon. I definitely plan on using aluminum for its weight.

Very nice use of byzantine and -- is that helm chain? The crystals really add a lot. It's a very beautiful piece. How'd you do in the contest?

Thanks . Yes it is helm chain. I didn't place because the contest required the piece to be over 85% crystals, which wasn't stated in the pamphlet for the contest I had. I also could not add more crystals to the piece without being gaudy. But it is ok, it made me create this piece, which I am very proud of.

Aww, that's a bummer about the contest. But as you said, it caused you to create the piece, which is amazing.

Wow, it's amazing! It looks like a difficult thing to make, so elaborate, and it's a good combination of colours.

Thanks. I wouldn't say it was too difficult, just really really time consuming. Picking the right colors and sequence was probably the most difficult part.
