Description
Westwind is a company operating on the sea-surface colony of Castor, which is nominally ruled by Free Texas as part of the Texan state of Cuba. In the late 2030s they began an "awakening" project which combines live brains with AI software, piggybacking on an animal's native intelligence to add language and memory abilities without controlling the user's mind. The project gained urgency due to the rise of an independent AI called Ludo, causing Westwind researchers to try harder for some way of preventing AI dominance of the future.

I did a human head->squirrel head photomorph, but because of the ear placement I couldn't get it to work as a sequence. Had to stitch together two different versions, one which ignored the ear when morphing so that the back of the head would look right. (For the morph I put the eyes in the same place, which put the jaws in roughly the same place.) So I had a morph with a higher forehead and wasn't sure what to do with it.
