Finally, page 4! Sorry it took so long.Is Fluttershy in fact a pegasus who's afraid of heights? I don't think it's as simple as that, because-- oh, look what Discord did! Never mind.

Fluttershy pegasus is obviously better, but she doesn't look half bad as an earth pony.
Also, why does Pinkie need wings? She can fly already. Or teleport. Or just crawl up the edge of the screen.

Well, heights might make her nervous, but she flies all the time anyway. She really wouldn't know what to do without them, I'd imagine.

I don't really think she'd miss them. Maybe at first, but she'd be fine after a while. Not like Rainbow Dash whose life's dream would be crushed.

That sounds a bit like saying you wouldn't miss your legs if you lost them because you're not an olympic sprinter. It may be felt less, but it would still suck pretty bad.

But again, that's not quite right. She doesn't hate flight at all; in fact, I think she enjoys it just fine. I've never once gotten any other impression. Even if walking were for some reason a little bit scary to you, your life would still never be the same without your limbs. Certainly, it's more than possible to carry on without them, but that's only if the worst happens. One doesn't cut off anything unless it's actually doing real harm.

For god's sake, it was just a joke! Stop taking it so seriously! I just took the idea that she's scared of heights ("Dragonshy", "Party of One") and suggested in jest that she'd rather not use her wings. Now go bother someone else, Buzz Killington!

In earlier drafts, they did have these respective races. I sometimes wonder if the show would've been better that way.

Nope. Fluttershy the pegasus being afraid of heights, and Pinkie the Earth Pony building a flying machine are more interesting, I think.

It'd be cool if they managed to work their G1 counterparts into the show somehow. We already have G1 Twilight as "Twilight Velvet," Twilight Sparkle's mother (supposedly, anyway; G1 Twilight was pink; Twilight Velvet is kind of grayish. Yet everyone says that she resembles Ms. Faust's original design for Twilight Sparkle, even though THAT design was also pink), and apparently Ms. Faust wanted to do something similar and make Firefly Rainbow Dash's mom (which was already many people's headcanon), but what about the others? ...Actually, Fluttershy having an Earth Pony mother (Posey) would make sense, and I had this weird idea that Surprise is not only one of the Wonderbolts (there's a Wonderbolt with a similar color scheme that we've never seen out of uniform), but also Rainbow Dash's older sister.

In my head canon Surprise is a Wonderbolt and she and Pinkie can't stand each other. Each accusing the other of being a rip off artist.

I do like the idea that Fluttershy has an Earth Pony family. However, I like the idea that Posey is her sister. For Surprise, I like to think she's Grandma Pie, and taught Pinkie the Ghosties song. Firefly and Rainbow Blitz are Dash's parents. Applejack is still the same, and Spike too. Rarity and Sparkler look the same, so there's that.
