Description
Toadette is sitting on the grass while underwater.Purple Captain Toad is just standing on the bench, puffing his cheeks.
I made a video on how I did this small glitch .

She realized that she isn't losing air, so holding her breath is completely pointless when it's not possible to drown in this game.

I know, but when i played it on Wii U, she was always puffing up her cheeks

To explain: This was done by using a glitch where after the first player's character (ether Toadette or Purple Captain Toad) plays his/her first idle animation after a few seconds while doing nothing (not pressing any buttons), the second player activates the P switch to raise the water level.
And that's how it happened.
This was done on the Nintendo Switch version.
