Here in Rhinestone Skies, death is inevitable, and almost every kind of death you can imagine will lead your spark to the same place: The Harmonic Parallel. This is the realm between lives, the place where you will be ground down to your base metaphysical components in preparation for your sacrifice to a phenomenon called "The Vortex." Before this can occur, you must be escorted down into the sub-realm of Nakai by the immortal residents of The Harmonic Parallel (these creatures are known as The Collective).

Fun little note: depicted in the background is a machine called The Lens. You don't wanna know what it does.
