Description here they are, a pair, from some of the most infamous skulls in the world...
(entrance to catacombs paris, france)

i shouldn't have to say this but apparently someone got confused and thought this photograph was to be used as stock which they could put in something and sell as a print.

wrong!

maybe if you want to pay me, i'll give it some thought... otherwise this has no business being anywhere but on your desktop as wallpaper per it's intended use.

Hey there. I hope you don't mind (I forgot to ask in advance) that I used this awesome pic as a stock.
Of course I give you credit. Sorry I didn't ask first!

Thanks.

of course i mind. THIS IS NOT STOCK.

though i'm sure plenty of other people have already used it for whatever.
it doesn't mean i'm happy thinking about it, especially if you're going to bring it to my attention 3 times.

I didn't mean to post this message three times. I thought it wasn't going through and I was just trying to do my duty to inform you. I am truly sorry for the mistake and am very regretful to have bothered you. It won't happen again.

yeah well, i'm not sure who wouldn't be bothered by such a thing. i see you made another one with someone else's skulls and they seemed not to mind but it looked like you asked them about it first.

I'm sorry again. I made a mistake out of in experience. I'm very new to photomanipulation, and I went about it wrong. I'm very sorry for the whole thing.

okay well at least you know now... though i'm not sure why you wouldn't have. i think there are plenty of things around the site that make it clear.

like i said before, it was the fact that you had it available as a print... that was the straw that broke the camel's back. not that i thought you'd be raking in the dough or anything but if you made even a penny off of it... that would be wrong.

at least you took the time to mention it though, as i said i figure there are probably a few people out there that have used my stuff without my knowledge... oh well, it's the risk i take putting things online.

a little heavy on the shadows but still a good shot.

i get it that creepy shots work better with shadows... but maybe shooting from a little more to the left would have given you that shadowy effect, without leaving so much negative space in the shot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KungFuCatfish In reply to ashleyrachel [2004-12-16 14:19:14 +0000 UTC]

me likes negative space and it's one of my stylistic trademarks...
regardless i tend to be more interesed in the placement of the subject itself than the light.
anywho considering how many feet underground i was and that there was only a flourescent light available i was pretty pleased that it turned out at all.

KungFuCatfish In reply to Mabruk [2004-10-17 00:25:41 +0000 UTC]

cool love your icon!

to me the catacombs were kind of a let down...
i had long dreamed of visiting them and when i found out that our room was within walking distance of them i got very excited. sure there were lots of skulls and bones but the expected spook factor was just absent. maybe it's because i'm a grown man now, maybe it was the whole nothing can ever live up to my expectations problem. then again maybe it was the amount of other people around, the flourescent lighting and the gates blocking the seemingly darker and more disturbing areas.

at any rate i still have 2 rolls of real film to get developed though i am pretty doubtful that any of the quality will match this digital capture. i really wanted a roll of 800 speed but we were on a budget and had other places to visit so i opted for 2 rolls of 400 instead. hopefully i get them processed in a way that will provide usable results.

thanx 4 stoppin' by!

oooo. if that's from the paris* catacombs and you were there... I would love to take a camera down there! hat3rz or lov3rz most of those peeps were virtually innocent. But I don't care...a skull is a skull, and I've collected a few...I have several deviations with skulls or part of skulls in them, and my stock acct has various shots of a plastic skull for manips.

*(fukin frogs...hehe)

HAH, I took this exact same picture when I visited the catacombs.

Yours came out a little better though... You use a tripod?

There is hardly any light down there..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KungFuCatfish In reply to renderdude [2004-07-07 16:52:16 +0000 UTC]

heh, yeah i kinda figured that many ppl take this picture hence the "infamous" bit.
no, actually i just stood very still and held my breath sadly enough, this was of my first few pics taken with the coolpix 4300 and i had it set on auto/no-flash, i may have got an even sharper image had i set it manually
there was more light than we expected, i was hoping there to be none at all.
hardly scary when you can see and there's lots of people around, there were many side bits that were locked by gates that looked much creepier, the bones were redder in color as well but i think that's just a result of the retinas being exposed to the green of the flourescents which are responisble for the hue in this image.

ty for commenting

I see. I used 400 speed film, so mine came out dark and eerie with a greenish yellow tone.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KungFuCatfish In reply to renderdude [2004-07-07 19:14:34 +0000 UTC]

ah well, i would recomend at least 800 speed, i know it's expensive though... i shot 2 rolls of 400 down there too but i haven't got them developed yet (i used a flash despite the sign that said not to because there were already plenty of other people using them anyways) wouldn't mind having a look at yours if you decide to load them up though.
