So you're seeing him as the walking zombie until he met Judy Hopps?

Well, that does make sense to me - after all, he is a red fox in Zootopia, being looked down like if he's the murderer only not being the one. Then Judy came in, slowly repaired his heart and feeling back together, only to partly shattered it when she explained the DNA thingy at the interview (short after Bogo literally dragged Lionheart to jail).

Sorry for my ranting, but I do agree with what you were thinking about Nick's point of view.
