Just a quickie for the contest over at -- a new outfit for Mozenrath.Moze dreaming of defeating Aladdin, winning Genie and running around topless. Look at him turn his back with complete disregard for the fallen Aladdin's well-being! Look at him cast magic with his non-gauntlet hand! Look at him bare his nipples to the world!
All in all, it's a pretty sweet dream.
Mozenrath belongs to Disney. This picture belongs to me. Photoshop belongs to Adobe.
I want a Mamluk plushie.

lol, that's so awesome. I wish you looked like that, too, Mozey. EPIC. Especially his hair. I also love the little details, like Aladdin (and Mozenrath's blantant disregard for his well being), the sleeping cap, the Mamluk plushie, and Xerxes sleeping in the bed...

I really like the textures you created in this...there's something subtle about the canvas quality that makes it look like watercolour or marker. Also the effect used around the dream bubble is very interesting. I've been trying for ages to create that glow effect his magic creates (ie. what illuminates the lamp). Could you enlighten me?

For the textures of the canvas, I tend to throw down a bunch of stuff after a painting is done...Motion blurred brushes to make streaks, lots of the "sharpen" effect in photoshop, etc. I find it makes the canvas more textured.
As for the magic glow around his lamp, I had the lamp as a black silhouette. Behind it, I painted the blue background part, then the white part on the interior. I have a "scattered small dot" brush that I used to make the smaller dots in the magic glow, to blend the two colours together. Then, I painted a blue glow onto the top of the black lamp silhouette to make it look as if it were glowing. The idea was to make the lamp look backlit to show just how bright the magic was, but then wrap the lighting around the front of it as well to show that it is *encased* by the magic, if that makes sense. O_o;
Uh, I hope that helps...I don't think I explained it very well, haha!
