So Chara is able to corrupt Sans, but they can't corrupt Frisk. That's because Frisk is a human and humans' traits are so powerful that Chara wouldn't be able to corrupted them. Monsters, being the weaker being, could easily be corrupted. That's a simple part of the explanation.
