Description

Atalmo is an Altmeri werewolf who makes a living by offering sellsword service. He's a former member of the Companions and of the Imperial Legion. Has a twin brother who's a mage at the College of Winterhold, and despite their differences he loves him dearly.

While Atalmo is surprisingly levelheaded despite the beastblood, he won't shy away from fights when forced to or when he thinks it's for a good cause, as his numerous scars imply. What constitutes a good cause for him, though, is up to debate.

BACKSTORY

Atalmo is the son of two veterans of the Great War: the Nord Falki and the Altmer Aramil. He and his twin brother Sincano live out their childhood and early adolescence in Falkreath, having a relatively peaceful time if not for the sporadic racist bullying against them, primaly perpetrated by a few Nord kids.

When Atalmo is a teen, the congenital lycanthropy he inherited from his Companions grandparents starts manifesting. This is met by an obvious panic and concern from his father and brother, even if he maintains a full control over his transformations.

The Silver Hand soon catches news of a young werewolf's presence in the woods around Falkreath. Atalmo is caught one night and almost killed, but is saved by a turned Aela and Skjor who were on the Silver Hand's trail already. Atalmo is grateful toward the two Companions and amazed by the fact that they're lycanthropes just like him. He sets his mind to join the warrior group when he is of age.

He does so two years later, at sixteen, at the cost of a furious fight with his father who is against this idea due to his tense relationships with his parents who were part of the group. The Companions offer him acceptance and a new way to see his condition, not as a curse but as a blessing: for a few years Atalmo thinks he has finally found his place in life.

Things change with the arrival of a new recruit and Skjor and Kodlak's death, as the Circle starts fracturing: the twins side with the newly-chosen Harbinger and seek a cure for lycanthropy, while Atalmo and Aela alone follow the old ways. He finally leaves after a fierce argument with the Harbinger when the Stormcloaks attack Whiterun: he defies her suggestion to stay neutral and helps the guards and the Imperial army defending the city.

Atalmo joins the Legion as an Auxiliary and stays with them up until the attack on Windhelm and Ulfric's death. He realises that being a werewolf and a soldier in the Legion isn't a feasible feat; the stressful military life and the bloodshed during battles bring him multiple times on the verge of transforming without any control, so he resigns to become a sellsword.

Atalmo's first stop is the College in Winterhold. The reunion with his brother does not end in the best of ways: Sincano is less than enthusiastic about seeing his twin again, and to his horror, Atalmo discovers that his brother is having an affair with a Thalmor named Estormo. He nevertheless manages to get a job: taking care the draugrs in Sarthaal.

Atalmo is present when the Eye of Magnus is found and helps the wizards of the College several times during the following months, until the situation degenerates with Ancano's attack. Atalmo, Sincano and Estormo go to Labyrinthian, where the Thalmor shows his true colours and attacks the two. Atalmo is almost burnt alive defending his brother, and only survives thanks to the healing powers of his own lycanthrope blood.

Permanently disfigured and even more traumatised, Atalmo sets off to wander Skyrim again. He makes living by taking a variety of jobs in the Rift and Eastmarch. On his way back from escorting a Dunmer merchant up to the border with Morrowind, Atalmo stumbles upon a young woman fleeing from a couple of armoured men. He doesn't hesitate to sheathe his sword in her defence even when they identify themselves a vampire hunters and expose the girl as a vampire. This revelation infuriates Atalmo even more: he can't but relate and take her defense.

The rescued girl begs him to bring her back home, near the border to Daggerfall. While there's something fishy about her story, he agrees anyway to help her, moved by her helplessness. What he doesn't expect, though, is that his simpathy will soon transform into something else.
