Description
At Nashicon 2014 (just last weekend as I'm typing this up) I cosplayed Kogasa! Which turned out to be lucky because it was raining all day. This costume, I love saying, cost me less than $11. It's made from the scraps and leftovers from other costumes, all I needed were a few notions and paint. I had actually started on it several years ago, but I eventually got back around to it this year. Back then, I had made the skirt and most of the top. I didn't quite like how they had turned out, so when I came back around to it, I decided to redo the skirt using the materials I already used for it, and for the top I decided to still use scraps, but in a different color. As usual, I took my own artistic liberties with the costume, choosing colors that suited me better mostly.
The umbrella was the most difficult part: I had a pink silk umbrella that I've had for years. It was a bit stained, but it was so pretty that I have been problems throwing it out. Instead of just throwing it out, though, I put it to good use- and it would have been exactly what made Kogasa if I had thrown it out! I'm glad I could give it a good use.

Wow! That's super impressive that you made such a nice costume for only $11. I guess that just speaks to your level of skill when it comes to cosplay. Awesome job!
Also, it is indeed the perfect cosplay for a rainy day. lol

Nice job and very resourceful. I don't think I have hit that low for a cosplay yet. I think my lowest mark was the $20 range and you were almost half of that. That is an accomplishment to be quite proud of Since I don't have much time until Momo Con, my next one is going to be relatively simple and could give you a run for your money if I can find a good deal on the fabric but since I'm having to get quite a bit of fabric, I think you will still be the champion.

Kogasa isn't even my least expensive cosplay. X3
But I do hope you beat out my price! That would be really great!
And I can't wait to see it. <3

Ah...my least expensive I don't even count since it was a 2 day notice though (just took some creative usage of my work uniform at the time)...it looked bad but no time to get ready because of college and work but wouldn't count it. Any that were serious attempt were much higher. Current most expensive was Raz from Psychonauts (leather jacket is a massive price hike ).
It's all up to how well I can find a good price on the fabric but I think I can do it. Here is the reference www.woodus.com/den/gallery/graphics/dq5ds/chara/hero.png so it should be nice and simple but feasible with everything else I have going on over the next month I'll see if I can get a picture of it before and if not, I can get one from Momo Con that will probably be better quality than a selfie

It does seem really simple! I look forward to seeing it!
I wouldn't be able to tell you my most expensive, honestly. However, my current line-up for Dragon*Con seems to have one costume that may end up being most expensive.

And I do have an unexpected head start as I was digging through my cosplay fabrics and found something that will work well for the large white fabric but can't find my boots so that will prevent coming close to that $11 goal range Also, with it being so simple and great flow, it will work well for the GA heat and humidity that will be prevalent for both Momo Con and Seishun Con similar to the White Mage outfit that you did at AWA.
I don't know the exact final $ point for Raz as it was one I lost track of after the $150 total That price alone let it eclipse the others I've done by three fold. I do have a special line-up for Dragon*Con as well if I can make sure I can get the time to craft it right. I would really like to try the Woeful character from Ball of Woe www.ballofwoe.com/_/rsrc/13527… . The design just feels like a fun, engaging, rewarding challenge that will raise several eyebrows. I'm curious to see what you have for Dragon*Con as you have a lot of talent with cosplays so I am a bit giddy with how spectacular it could be

I hope mine will be spectacular. X3 I bought less than half the materials for the costume today and its already running at nearly $40. ;_; But I already have most of the things picked out, I just need to print out my coupons to pick up the more expensive fabric with. Then I have to learn how to work with worbla and wonderflex as well (and purchase it x.x). But I"m really pushing myself with costumes for this convention. It'll be my first Dragon*Con and I'm meeting up with a friend I've never met in person, and we'll be cosplaying from the same series. I hope I can impress them to make an amazing in person first impression!
The character you linked is really cute! I'd love to see what becomes of it if you decide to cosplay them. Especially since I have the potential to see it in person! <3

yup, I failed Boots were $50 and fabric materials and accessories were $35. I did end up with everything I needed (including the arm bands that would have just been skipped). I'll still try to aim to match the $11 challenge as it is certainly a great goal to push for (and saves me money if I succeed ). But Dragon*Con, I will be prepared to go all out as it will be a fun one to make anyways

Yeah, I did. I'm more surprised and disappointed about the boot search. Me and a friend went to 5 shoe specialty stores and none of them had any boots for men. I definitely did not see that coming. It is true that the important thing is having everything I needed though

I'm not sure which you have planned but with all of the effort and energy (and money) being put into it, I think it is going to be an amazing surprise! Learning using those is something I haven't reached yet so I don't have any tips but I hope it goes well. One's first Dragon*Con is always an experience. It spans across 4 hotels and has a lot going on. I personally prefer AWA though as Dragon*Con has hit that point where so big that it has trouble managing itself IMO. It is still fun but easy to get lost, panels getting moved, finding a particular person is a struggle, etc. leaves me enjoying AWA more. I've got faith that you'll make a great first impression with your friend and have lots of fun throughout the weekend.
Thanks and I'll definitely want to give it my best work to really make it shine so you can appreciate it even more <3 So true that it is so much more magical to see in person than a photo. Although with how large the head is, I will have to have a back-up ready for the late night parties, dances and concerts at Dragon*Con. Although this is reminding me that I should stop procrastinating on posting my AWA pics Been so busy that I keep forgetting to
Maybe I can this weekend since it is a little hard to upload while at work
