Description Didn't realise I was doing my pieces in accordance to this, to some degree:

Weird! Maths wins again! DAMN IT!

Strange how compositions will look awful until suddenly it just clicks into gear and looks great - with nice weighting and everything.

In my last few pieces I've taken into account the Fibonacci spiral to compose the scene - works well, and I have fun deciding on and tweaking the key elements and points of interest - and basically making your eye travel on a journey through the piece!

The centre pic with Optimus and Megs has an unaltered F-Spiral on it - the other pics have near-to equal ratio, with it being tweaked slightly to play with it.

Thought it was interesting, enjoy!

Beautiful man! I learned about the Golden Mean and Fibonacci through a source unrelated to art. It can be a difficult concept to grasp and your pieces help display the art application of both.

I think your claims are slightly unjustified, no offence

O rly, why would you say that?

Well, some of them seem really forced. Aligning them to the spiral requires kind of the same indulgent imagination like seeing those animals or characters in constellations, if you kow what I mean.

Well, I did say in the original post that I had fun "deciding on and tweaking the key elements and points of interest", shortly followed by: "The centre pic with Optimus and Megs has an *unaltered* F-Spiral on it - the other pics have near-to equal ratio".

So there you have it.

its quite incredible how our minds are in tune to certain things that have to do with the golden ratio. you're a perfect example.

I've been trying to find this golden ratio template for ages.

I had a demo version of Painter, which had a load of great perspective and compositional aids built in. Sadly, I couldn't afford it after the demo expired. I've been trying to work out how to set something similar up for Photoshop. Any ideas where I should be looking?

First go here: [link] - download this. Nest open up ur doc in PS, open up this pic too. Drag this spiral pic into your new document and press Ctrl+T (transform tool) adjust till your hearts content. Oh also - try changing the spiral layer to screen or multiply depending on what colour u have made the spiral. Yeah?
