This was my entry for a contest held in January for a book called 'The Anime & Electronics Guide to Tokyo'. My friends Rik rikfuzz and Karsh skygallery entered as well. We thought it would be so cool if all 3 of our entries were used in the same book. And they were! My pic was used for the front cover, Rik did icons for the inside of the book and Karsh's illustration was used for the back cover.There was even mention of the book and photo of my cover image on a Japanese blog, check it out here! blog.livedoor.jp/geek/archivesβ¦
Piko is my original character~~! Just a bit of self-promotion. The girl is random, but now she kinda looks like a grown-up Pikapikahikaru (Piko's owner). Oh and I didn't draw the background, it's just a scenery tone that was scanned in with colour added on top. I had no time to do a BG because I had finished literally at the last minute!

yaknow I love this so much - and not just because of the obvious display of unmatchable (at least by anybody i know) talent, but by the striking and effective design element.
The character as an individual picture is gorgeously drawn, coloured and shaded. Both technically and as an illustration its beautiful. That mixed with an obvious flare for design, brilliant use of text! Its just excellent.

Your style is really becoming more defined now. The way you colour is very unique and makes the character look more like a 3D rendered model. Beautiful shading as always~especially on the hair. The background works well to make the character stand out more (even though you didn't draw it) and the coloured effect makes the overall image look more interesting.
