I don't use GIMP, so I can't tell you how to fix it there.
But it's a .tiff file. I know for a fact that it works in Photoshop.

Problem is that Photoshop isn't free... Even if my parents blackmailed me out of what money I had left, it would be a waste to buy Photoshop just to be able to utilize the TIFF file & then barely use it anymore.
