I love the industrial setting here, with the pipes, poor lighting, even the chipped/worn paint on the floor really add to this. For some reason it puts me in mind of the Max Headroom series. The retro industrial look I guess. I keep expecting the "Metros" to be coming down the hallway next, chasing Blank Sanna and Blank Dennis.

If you've never had a chance to watch "Max Headroom", I do recommend it ... when and if you have the time!

I realize I should have read this comment before I answered the other one. Not feeling so incredibly stupid anymore, and I guess I have to check out that show one day

Well, "Max Headrom" had a pretty short run as a t.v. series. Here's the Wikkipedia entry on it; [link] (TV_series)

They don't mention it, but the "Metros" (or Metrocops) were the government police frequently shown in the series. But, since the "government" is pretty much run by the Television Networks, the Metros are kind of the enforcement arm of the Networks. The Networks run everything (including elections) ... and many of the laws relate to and were put in place by the Networks. So, for example, it is against the law to have an "off switch" on your television! It is the idea of telvision being the "opiate of the masses" run wild. They also control education - denying it to certain classes of people (especially the "Blanks") - which leads to one of my favorite quotes from the show:

"Now, I'm no librarian, in fact, I don't know what star sign I am. But, as a famous person once said, "You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time." And as I - another more famous person - once said, "If you don't teach them to read, you can fool them whenever you like." [Max Headroom]

Well! THIS ran a LOT longer than I expected! Sorry 'bout that.

I had a ... ahem ... DVD copy for several years that was taken from one of the TV runs of the series. But, Lorimar recently released the full series on DVD over here. Had to get that of course! I don't know if it's available in Europe or not though. I would expect it would be ... eventually.

I did just check Amazon.co.uk and found it there. But it is a region 1 (North America) DVD. If you have a region 1 DVD player ... [link]

Awesome! I do hope you enjoy it ... I just finished watching the series again last week. I love the character of Edison Carter ... he is just constantly bucking the system. And Theora is, in my opinion, one of Amanda Pays' best roles. Most of the episodes are great, though there are a couple that are a little weak. Well, I'll be interested to see what you think.

I've seen the first episode, it's so the 80s, and the music reminds me of "Twins peak" .
It seems promising so I'll have to check out some more (and slightly confusing, but I guess I'll understand more of it after a few episodes). I read on IMDB by the way that it originally was a british movie that came out a year before the series, a lot of people on the forums there said it was a lot better, so I'll see if I can find that one to. Have you seen it?

Alas! No, I haven't had the opportunity to see the original British movie. I believe the title of that was "20 Minutes into the Future". I believe it was basically the same story as "Blipverts" though.
