Description I was in a very panoramic mood that day, so what else to do while waiting for the ferry than to take yet another panorama ?

Taken in Eidsdal with a view over Storfjorden and the ferry travelling between Eidsdal and Linge on the west coast of Norway.

It was extremely many people who wanted to cross the fjord that afternoon (long weekend and nice weather. What I do not understand is why they didn't start the summer routes (two ferries) that day, instead of the day after. They ought to have known that there would be loads of people).

There wasn't room for me in the first ferry (even though I came 20 minutes before it was supposed to leave), and it almost wasn't room for me in the second one either (only one other car was allowed on board after me ).

Post-processing
Adjusted the wb and reduced the contrast a tiny bit on all the pictures in camera raw.

Stitched the pictures together with automatic photomerge in Photoshop.

Turned up the contrast on the picture with some selective curves layers. One for the sky, where I darkened the darks and turned up the highlights on the clouds. One for the mountains where I lightened slightly and turned up the contrast. One for the water and foreground, where I turned up the highlights. Also lightened the whole picture slightly with a curves layer.

Used a black and white layer set to overlay (55%) to turn up the contrast some more and changed the colour tones of the picture by adjusting the different colour channels with yet another curves layer (turned the red and green channels a tiny bit up, and the blue channel a bit more than the others down).

Removed some dust spots with the healing tool and then straightened and cropped the picture slightly.

Oh wow... I really love this. The colors are all so deep and rich. I can imagine them, but they still seem to be somewhat fantastical, if that makes any sense. All the same it is a beautiful beautiful picture. Wonderful job!

That's pretty unfair.. That landscape is sooo beautiful! And you took it so .. amazing, georgeous.. anything.. Simply well done! Again one of those "Searched all the day for a really pleasant and full-of-emotion photo" photo!

OMG TEH CROOKED!

Nah, it's fine. Probably just the bend from the wide angle making the horizon look un-straightish. But maybe check it with the ruler in PS anyway

I really like the colour balance in this, the green and blues really pop. Lurvely. (Not liking the lens flare up left though, but I'm a lens flare racist so just disregard )

I'm uploading a straightened version now (and when that is up, soon the post-processing info will be as well), but now I think it looks crooked

I'm not too fond of lens flares either (or, I like them sometimes), but I don't find it too disturbing in this one

If you haven't uploaded the new one then the crookedness was all in my mind...cause now I think it looks straight.

When you open the 200MB file, maybe consider straightening it a bit?? Great photo, but the diagonal waterline is sticking out to me.

I have tried to straighten it, but I still don't think it looks right, something seems very off

You might be used the way it looked before or it might be the off balance composition. There is more of everything on the right than on the left (eg. clouds, mountains, land, people). I think it looks fantastic now, but do what you feel is best for the photo.

I'd also like to note that the lens flare is one of my favorite things about this photo. So there!

Thank you
I love panoramas, and sometimes (like that day, I have a few more panoramas taken the same day that I might upload) I feel like just taking panorama pictures everywhere. You really should try it. And you really don't need a tripod and special tripod head to pull them off (except if you are going for absolutely perfect or a 360) like some people seem to think, most of my panoramas are taken handheld
