Very nice demake, I feel like I can practically play it. Yeah total bummer when something comes out on a system you don't own, still happens.

I wonder how it would have been...considering C64 Starcon 1 had one of the races on a different side (Mycon were Alliance...) I wonder if that would have been carried forward?

I prefer to think that the Mycon chose their side based on whoever owns the Sa-Matra. If the C64 version counts as canon, maybe the Alliance discovers the SM but is unable to operate it, which was later confiscated by the UQ to become the final trophy of the Second Doctrinal War.

One good explaination i found is that the C64 version of Star control 1 is a prequel to the other versions. The Mycon were in the alliance early on, due to them seeing the Alliance as an un-voidable non, but then switched to the Heirarchy once they found potential weaknesses of the alliance, and remained there throughout Star Control 1 and 2.
