As a guy that played FE5 three times, here's some advice for your friend.
Don't play FE5 blind. Find a guide, like this one.

FE5 is called the hardest FE game of the whole series for good and bad reasons. Making blind playthroughs a very bad idea.

as someone who's play FE5 i have a warning for your friend.
make sure he has a stress relief toy in hand while playing it. and a few extras on the side for when he tears his first one into shreds.
