designed a new punk-ish demon dog ;; I really like his/her design (haven't decided the gender yet oops)probably gonna keep this one, but may sell in the future!

it depends what your final goal is- perfect anatomy or stylized- but either way I find the best practice is tracing over pictures of whatever it is you're trying to learn c: For me, it was lots of wolf pictures. And it's nice because lots of animals have similar anatomy, so once you learn the basic shapes it makes it easier!
I also would sometimes study or trace over pieces by artists that inspired me (never using it for actual work, of course, just as practice!) to learn a variety of ways to sketch different shapes ^^ so if you do that, don't rely on just one or two different artists to learn from because you don't want your style looking too much like theirs xD
but yeah, lots of practice is the best way ;; once you understand something pretty well you can stylize it however you like, which is what most artists do instead of relying on strict realism!

True~ you have to be careful to not fall into certain traps though, such as how cats dont have as obvious a chest as dogs, etc.
