It is doubtless that you are a very skilled artist and have a great technique, but I think you should have given a proper reference to the ad that you based it on nevertheless.

This is awesome, I suggest you take an extra 30 minutes to refine the skin of the back, and also the material shes wrapped in. The face itself is amazing, not to mention the hair aswell!

hmm I dunno
It was just a speed thing and besides it wsa referenced. It wouldn't be really hard to copy it from the reference

___when U say 'Photo-Referenced' do U mean, just looking @ a photo to draw? and what do π: 0 β©: 0
they mean when they say used a 'stock' photo, I know what that is, but what do they do
like in PShop, do they scan it or just 'reference' it?? use it as a template to build on? I've
never used Pshop or any of those. My artwork is of a different nature
Thanks!___I do have PS 7.o so, yes, I'm very excited about getting into it...and learning!
...This piece, I like the 'glistening' effect on her face, would like to see that on the rest of her!
Like she is sweating or that it is just the natural 'scheen' of her skin w/the lighting etc. -Nice-

30 minutes.....
ok, something like this probably would take me 30 days, then another 30 days to redo everything, another 30 days, to......

30 minutes?
Holy crap. I can't paint a face in 30 minutes. You are amazing O_O
what kind of brushes do you use in PS? The basic set?
π: 0 β©: 1
Kyena In reply to epiphany [2005-01-13 08:34:19 +0000 UTC]
weeeell it was done from reference - It would definately take me longer if I had to do it by heart
thanks for the compliment though
This was only done with the normal hard edged paintbrush. Opacity and flow set to pen pressure. (Using my wacom)
I do have some custom brushes I use every now and then and I plan to upload the .abr to my website within the next few days (in case you were interested )

oh hahah - that is only a fast speed exercise - hmm I need to check if I still have the original and on top it was done with a reference so I am not even sure if I could put it up as print

Looks like it was done by pencil. every detail imaginable worked into it and crafted by hand

I adore her face and hair. It's really nice how sharp they look compared to the rest of the picture, it really gets the viewer to focus on them. Great job, as always!

Phew, das sieht man mal wieder wieviel ich noch lernen muss
WunderschΓΆnes Bild, das durch die Entstehungszeit noch aufgewertet wird. Wirklich toll ^^

Wow, your speed paintings are amazing! I love the dewey look of her skin - so soft, smooth and shiny. I like her assymetrical haircut as well. I hope these are helping you find that better technique you have been looking for.

Wow, that is incredible for only 30 minutes of work. ^_^ Her face came out the best, I think, followed closely by the hair.
I wish I had something I could actually use to draw with on my laptop... Maybe I should break down and buy an optical mouse one of these days. Then I'm not spending seven hours straight touching up a picture with a touchpad and having my finger forget how to bend.

Kyena In reply to Faraleigh [2004-12-22 07:36:08 +0000 UTC]
omg a touchpad? gah - even a mouse is totally painful to draw with - I am glad I have a wacom tablet >_<

Faraleigh In reply to Kyena [2004-12-22 21:39:58 +0000 UTC]
Yes, a touchpad... It sucks, but it's better than the little blue... joystick... button thing... that's integrated into the keyboard. I haven't drawn anything (though I've tried) with it, I just touch up pictures and tweak them and whatnot. I've more or less gotten used to it... Perhaps if I get more serious with CG stuff, I shall get a Wacom. ^^
