Description
I was hunting through my old folders when I stumbled across this.I made this 7/29/2010.
The models are both me.
When I first started struggling with my gender identity, I had no idea how to express it. It had been bottled up for quite a few months, until I came up with this idea, and went for it.
What is gender? It's a bunch of wibbly-wobbly gook. And to be honest, I'm not sure where I am. I might be genderqueer, I might be ftm/ a boy, but at this point, it's not a big deal to me.
I'm me.
I'm Elliott.
Hi.
why yes, that is a Pokemon blanket I am sitting on.
Also, I would really like to re-make this sometime soon!! : )

It looks more like fraternal twins. Also isn't that "I hate you" a bit much.

Well, it's me as both, so..not really sure what to say to that. And as for the hating..not to me. I mean, I truly do hate the "girl" everyone assumes I am--the pronouns and name thrown at me every day, when I don't fit them at all. It's an absolutely awful feeling. I tried to be her for around 10 years of my life, to please everyone around me. The basis of my suicidal thoughts were revolved around her. So yes, I hate her, which I suppose is a little silly because she's not even real. But she is believed to be real by many, and it's expected of me to be her. I just want to be seen as myself, and she's the only thing in the way of that.
Besides, to get a point across in a picture... saying "I don't like you" wouldn't really have the same effect, would it?

Gender is a bunch of wibbly wobbly gook? lol It is the distinction between two opposites of a species that are intended for mating and reproduction...does that answer the question? lol

The way things are today has been manufactured to not only, slow down the growth of the human race, but to feminize and weaken males, while "impowering" females to reject such ideas like, raising a family and being a good mother, because we all know that is just unnatural...lol
We are destroying this planet at an alarming rate, not only that, but we have been brain washed into thinking we are seperate and actually different from the rest of nature and humanity, but we aren't.
What is the easiest way to control a population? Divide and conquer, do you think you are really free?

They classify that as a "behavioral pattern", not a actual natural accuring genetic trait, since hormones are so accessible now, and it has become more excepted they consider it now to be a normal part of society, that doesn't mean it always has been. Some men are also a lot more muscular and stronger thanks to performance enhancing drugs, do you consider that natural? I've seen tranformations of guys who look like mountain men, turning themselves into swim suit models, you on the other hand having youngboyish/feminine features can pull it off without hormones.
There are a lot of things some scientist and doctors who have their own agendas and say things that arenβt actually true you know? Just because someone is in a position of power or influence does not make them the Gods of knowledge and information or trust worthy for that matter, I mean if you really want to get into the science of it, I can tell you about all the BPA in plastic which is a known synthetic estrogen/hormone disruptor, do you know what that means?
We are exactly like animals, we are animals, just more intelligent, and the BPA from the plastic alone that has been polluting different animals ecosystems have been causing genetic deformations. Causing a number of complications and actually killing a lot of different animals, mostly just creating hermaphroditic animals though. That is just one example, it's doing it to different animals through out the world, do you think it has no effect on us? Were you raised drinking milk from a plastic bottle? lol
This is the truth, there is a natural order to the universe, up-down, yin-yang, male-female, the continuation of any species relies on their ability to procreate, with our perspectives and also our genetics being transformed by pollution and a corrupt society, do you really think it is βnaturalβ?
Study history and biology, please,I wasnβt even going to get into all this but, I felt compelled to tell you. I hope it doesn't sound rude or arrogant...

Yes, we are animals. Yes, it seems our differentiation is lies in our larger brain. But truth is not only a two way street. I doesn't have to be linear.
There can be a yin-yang, but up-down can also be side to side, northeast to southwest. And it doesn't have to stop there. Your examples seem to mean that these are opposite, when in fact they don't have to be; it could be north east to west.
Many things are subjective, actually I think most things are, and in the case of gender, identification with perhaps society's implications or just the knowing of being a gender your body could not necessarily apply to.
What is your view on "natural?" Is it what happens when the sun shines, the earth shakes and an ice age comes and goes? Do you think that a spider making a web is "natural," or an orange having a half formed second orange inside? If so, i think it is not a stretch to say that what we humans create is also natural, albeit farther from what materials we've found to develop these things; that we alter ourselves and the environment around us is not "unnatural" in my opinion.
I think the differentiation you are making is not necessarily natural vs unnatural, but natural and inevitable vs what you think is wrong in people today and the innovations the human race has developed that has had unfortunate repercussions on us and the world (ie plastic).
Back to the subject of gender and changing gender identities, both physical and mental, it is not a linear scale with two extremes; rather it is a cloud of complex identities based around the self and for others (what you wish to portray to society and what you are to yourself). there are so many subcategories of sex that it is ni impossible to but in a row; i don't believe anyone will be able to decipher everything about anything because the truth is almost always more complicated then we might have wanted it to be.
Have a nice day, and no, you did not come across as rude or ignorant, merely having a conversation.
:]

As eloquent as you sounded, and as nice as I want this to sound but most likely wont, you can justify it anyway you want, you can try and sound smart by writing a long speech, but truth is truth, right is right, and natural is natural. Yin and Yang, up and down, cold and hot, are all the same, but different, just as man is like man, and a woman a woman, but both are similar, as below so above. Everything in nature comes in pairs, although opposites, being similar, and depending on each other to exist and survive, so naturally male and female are meant to be as such because they "naturally" go together to procreate and create an entire "whole". Since when did being compassionate or nice and loving your fellow humans male and female, mean going against basic laws of nature and doing as we please and feeling entitled to do so? Of course we are all humans, and people have free will, but it doesn't make it right, or normal. Humans are not all powerful intelligent beings with the right to mess with nature at free will, you did not create the universe, and you did not create your own body, or even your own mind, so what gives you the right to screw with it and blurr the lines? You are merely lucky, blessed even, to even be alive, yet you and others like you, and the behavoir you condone, teach nothing but selfish single minded ness based on desires. Especially considering never in history have men been so feminized, it is no coencedence my friend, and it isn't evolution, it is the poisoning and desterlization of the human race. Believe me, agree or not, it's your life. We are meant to be the way we are meant to be, and if you screw with the Universe=the laws of nature, and do as you please, Karma, and the Universe will slap you back to reality. Look around you, our world is falling apart, we are poisoning our planet, cancer and disease is exploding, men are being feminized and women hyper femininzed, and you argue over a boys right to pretend to be a girl, it's pathetic to be frank, people suffering daily all over the world, and you are more worried with over privilaged ingrateful nancies crying because they think being "different" means being a freak of nature. Sorry, but it is wrong, and so are you, no offense, but you have a lot to learn, I am still learning myself and used to think like you too, but you will see.
Cause and effect, what do you think the effect of all these things will be?

Antivertigo In reply to Chris1Superman [2013-04-30 06:23:30 +0000 UTC]
This is perhaps too old to comment on, but it riled my intellectual and spiritual senses. I'd like to tell you that my body is female but my mind is a strange mix of male and female, not truly one or the other but I would like it much more if my body lost its feminine characteristics. I don't think I'm hyper feminized, I think I'm almost extremely masculine and I don't think this goes with your somewhat narrow belief that a toxin in our plastics is causing everyone to want to be more feminine.
This also narrow definition of our universe shows an unwillingness to truly listen and an ignorance usually only children are capable of. Yes, there are plenty of opposites to look at and be, light and dark, male and female, life and death, and so on. Those are extremes, on either end of a wild spectrum that is often very complicated and takes years of contemplation to reach an understanding of. We as humans have been trying for thousands of years to define our universe and understand everything about it with our limited concepts, and slowly we move forward and change our minds.
It is a very serious issue, understanding one's own identity, especially as many people are ridiculed and even hunted for being different. I think that is as serious as all the people starving out there because they cannot afford to feed their large family, as children still being worked to death in mines and sweatshops, as the slow and plodding destruction of our planet over warmongering, and as serious as those as cynical as you who think they know best and that everyone should listen to them because that's the only way the world will ever be 'right.'
The struggle is that there is no one right way. It is my belief that there is only forward and upward for someone to strive for, whatever that means for you whether it's God or saving the planet one kitten at a time. I do verily apologise for bringing up something old and that you've probably forgotten about, but I felt that I had to say something, and I'm very curious as to what you think now. Have you done anything to try and put a stop to the evils of the human race in this last year, or have you complained as much as the rest of us?

Chris1Superman In reply to Antivertigo [2013-04-30 07:51:13 +0000 UTC]
Hyper feminization makes men feminine but makes females more masculine, yes it's true, there are multiple reasons why people become who or what they are, not just genetics, if you don't take public fact into consideration that's your ignorance. You seem as though you are just trying to sound superior or smart or whatever, and although some of what you said is true you are just regurgitating what others have already said, it's redundant, life can be anything we choose it to be, just like you can be whatever you want to be, I don't judge you, but don't be so delusional to think that god or nature or fate intended you to be what you are, genetics can be easily manipulated and corrupted, just like the mind.

So you're still in the same frame of mind, I see. And yes, I quite realize what I sound like but I don't care, I spoke what was on my mind. You still haven't answered my question. Have you done anything, outside of arguing with someone over the internet, to change people's minds and make them more aware of what's going on? And now I have a second question, what have I regurgitated?

What can we do other than speak out? I do what I can, problem is, no amount of talking, more laws, will change people's nature, it's called human nature for a reason, so all we can hope for is we change and make ourselves better then we try to help others, living selflessly, not selfishly, you only fight for your "cause" because you are apart of it, it effects you, so what other causes that have nothing to do with your choice to dress up as a girl, how about racism, children starving, abuse, or the million other problems we have that matter much more than you and this issue, period.
No offense.
π: 0 β©: 1
Antivertigo In reply to Chris1Superman [2013-05-06 07:29:16 +0000 UTC]
The real problem we have is our lack of willingness to see each other's point of view, without instantly wanting to prove the other wrong. And perhaps it's not people's nature that you need to change, but make others aware without sounding like you believe their points of view are invalid, because what you sound like is that you're trying to put people down and call them an idiot for feeling how they feel. You can't just invalidate someone's feelings just because you think the cause makes it imaginary. And yes, there are more life-threatening issues, but what's the point of saving them if you can't be human?
As for my efforts, I do what I can within my sphere of influence. I sign petitions on a whole host of issues and try to keep aware of what's going on in the world. If I had money, I'd be donating everyday but I can't.
