Description DRAWN BY THE TALENTED ... [link] ....I COLORED THIS IN PHOTOSHOP. I ASKED HIM IF I COULD COLOR THIS, BUT, I NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY, I SAW THAT OTHERS HAD, AND I KNOW HE IS A BUSY MAN, SO, I ASSUMED THAT IT WOULD BE OK, SINCE THEIR'S WERE STILL UP. SO, HERE IS MY SHOT AT IT. I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I DID TO COLOR IT.

it nothing big and to tell you the truth it may be a personal perference but as a colorist when i look at pieces i look at specific aspects more or less i am chasing moods that i can re-create done the road....

you know someone (well i know who) but a pro recommended a book to me when i first started and it helped me understand and look at things alot differently when i color you should check it out it might help... it called "the dc comics guide to coloring and lettering comics by chiarello and klein" ....

there is a quote in there that really changed the way that i color and i have to admit i WAS one of the weaker ones until i started really learning what colors to use when, why to use them and the difference between the temperatures of the colors but never-the-less here is the quote brother and i truly hope you don't take any offense to the quote because it is never my intention to offend anyone i only try to encourage and help...

"there are filters that stretch and squash images, filters that make linework drawings look like water color painting, filters that make objects look like they're wrapped in plastic or chrome, filters that can distort, displace, pinch, ripple, spherize, twirl, and emboss your drawings. most weak colorist use them on a regular basis. most good colorists rarely use them. need i say more?"

that quote completely changed the way i color brother i used filters just about on every piece i ever posted ..... now i very very rarely use them and i have to say it has made me a better colorist as i know it can do for you.... please feel free to ask for help or tips or input anytime

WOW...NO PROBLEM. I WILL...I DEFINETLY WILL. LOL...MAN, I APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO EVEN THROW THAT KIND OF KNOWLEDGE AT ME, AND I WILL GO RIGHT NOW TO CHECK THIS BOOK OUT ONLINE, AND HAVE IT SENT TO THE CASA!!! I MUST HAVE THIS BOOK. MY GOALS IN THE COMIC INDUSTRY ARE TO LEARN AND BECOME AS GOOD AS GOD HAS INTENDED ME TO BE. I DONT THINK THAT I HAVE HIT MY PEAK, AND I HOPE THAT I AM RIGHT, AND IT MAKES ME HAPPY TO HAVE PEOPLE LIKE YOU HELPING OTHERS, AND MAKES ME PROUD AT THE SAME TIME TO BE PART OF THE ARTIST COMMUNITY WHEN PEOPLE LIKE YOU OFFER INTELLIGENT ADVICE AND OFFER YOUR EXPERIENCES. SO, THANK YOU, AND I WILL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE FRUITFUL CONVERSATIONS WITH YOU, AND REALLY..I DO MEAN IT WHEN I SAY, STOP BY THE PAGE AND LAY DOWN SOME WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT ANYTIME BROTHER!!! THANK YOU MAN! -KYLE

hey kyle-

sorry for the delay but it was time for me to hit the sack last night, anyways brother you are quite welcome you would be surprised the actual amount of people here that are willing to help and offer advise as long as someone is willing to truly hear it. and when i hear it i mean being able to take the good comments from the bad ones and realize that sometimes your best growth as an artist comes from the bad ones and the mistakes that you make along the way. that is something i have learned myself and the same was done for me by an industry pro which i am still in constant contact with and she helps me more than i could ever say in words...

and let me give you alittle something something, i personally have only been digital coloring for 2 years now and i have grown more in the past 3/6 months then i ever thought in the first year year and a half partly because of that book, me really trying to learn about color (alot of researching), and because of the input from that pro (cause she is never affraid to tell me that it looks like shit or hey instead of this try this). i would tell you right now while you are waiting on that book open up google and research what color temperature means.... the difference between warm and cool temperatures (that was another thing that helped me)

remember in the end you are the one that has to put in the time and practice an effort myself as well as many others always willing to help or advice but the colors that come from your pen can only come from your mind's eye so practice brother and have fun
