Woo! My first proper sugimori-style picture. I drew it at work with no references (all blocked...) so it's not exact but it was fun to do!This is Ariadne, the first Gym Leader. Can you guess her type?
Ariadne is really girly Gym Leader that is not afraid to get down in the dirt and crawl in dark and damp places to find some new bugs. She owns a large Bug Vivarium that doubles as her gym.
She uses her pokemon's silk to make her beautiful dresses, which contributes to her thinking bugs are beautiful. She dreams of making her own fashion brand and everyone wearing clothes made by bug pokemon.
Followed by many nerdy male fans, she thinks humans are vile and prefers insects instead.

Oh no, I find it to be quite a challenge! You want to stick to a certain style, but also make it look modern and fresh without looking sloppy. It it quite the feeling when you know you've pulled it off such as with a character like Ariadne. =3

She's so pretty, and I love the spiders-web-like frills in the dress, and the butterfly accesory

Yeah this is much better than Sugimori Style. It actully kind of looks like the Mystery Dungeon style, just better. The design is great, along with the shading.I thought BUG right when I saw her.
But the thing is, when you say girly, then say how she gets down in the dirt looking for bugs, that wouldn't be the right word to describe her, right? She'd be more like a non-girly girl. xD
But great job, can't wait to see the Water Gym/Gym Leader!

nice job kyle it has that combo of sugimori style and your unique style perfect combo. I see what you did with the dress the scirt section looks like a spiders web amazing job man, but one thing that bugs me is the left hand looks odd maby the position i would consider straitening the fingers out but other than that amazing job as allways

Yup! Bug. Gym leaders are in the order of the pokemon you find in the wild. E.g. bugs and birds are always found early on, but dragons later on.
