HGSS - [link]Great job on the HGSS fanart last time, now I want you all to make BW fanart! (Especially Mijumaru <3)
I think Mijumaru matches the boy really well so I gave the girl Tsutaja as she looks like she has an attitude.

That is such a great shot! It has a really nice feel. Looking at it feels me with a sense of longing to jump up and go on an adventure! What a great vibe! The shading on the trees goes really nicely and the way you've understated the bridge in the background and kept the sky simple so that it doesn't detract from the foreground is wonderful. Really great work!

I'm not really a fan of gigantic mutant mice and snakes, I prefer seeing them slightly smaller than they are on the anime and stuff.

Well, I think we need to take a further look.
I have come up with a sort of "theory", that in every generation, there are 3 choices: the "female/cute" choice, the "rival/cool" choice, and the "hero/underdog" choice.
These follow the format: cute < underdog < rival.
Let's look at Kanto:
The "cute" choice is Squirtle. The "underdog" choice is Bulbasaur. The "cool" choice is Charmander.
Johto:
"Cute" = Chikorita < "Underdog" = Cyndaquil < "Cool" = Totodile
Hoenn:
"Cute" = Torchic < "Underdog" = Mudkip < "Cool" = Treecko
Sinnoh:
"Cute" = Piplup < "Underdog" = Turtwig < "Cool" = Chimchar
Now, before we look at Isshu, check out the "scores" so far - Water-type is the lead "Cute" choice, Grass-type is the lead "Underdog" choice, and Fire-type is the lead "Cool" choice.
Based on appearance and the previous pattern, the Isshu choices are thrown out of the loop.
"TsutΔja" would be the "Cool" choice, whereas "Mijumaru" seems to be the lead candidate for the "Cute" choice, but between "Pokabu" and itself, it could realistically go either way.
Now, keeping that in mind, let's look at the advertising and media that will surround the anime portion of the series.
May started with Torchic and Dawn started with Piplup. I think that because of the jump in the characters' ages, we will see a more mature Ash on the show (not that this has a major bearing on PokΓ©mon as a whole), meaning we may see more mature supporting characters (i.e. the Isshu heroine.)
Because both of the previous Coordinators chose a Fire and Water-type, respectively, I believe that this "more mature" character may end up choosing the Grass-type "TsutΔja" and breaking the mold.
This time, I expect to see Ash also obtaining "Mijumaru" instead of "Pokabu" or "TsutΔja", as well.
So this could support my theory, and it is why I endorse the change of "stereotype", but it still is just that...a theory.
