Description
And once again, Fennekin is the most popular xDIt's really weird playing with new pokemon before the game is out!
Ok this has gotten really popular but I just want to clarify that THIS IS A FANGAME!
These are not screenshots of Pokemon X / Y. It's my own fangame, which is an mmo game (massive multiplayer online). These are screenshots of Route A1 in my fan-made region called Atlas, which has over 200 new pokemon in it. There is no planned release date yet but we're working on it every day and hopefully will release it some time this year.
NOTE: Vermini is not GEN 6! He's in my dex I just wanted to show a battle. He was created by the awesome and full credit goes to him! [link]

With some luck, in gen 6th will be a dolphin PokΓ©mon
I like how PokeMMO works, would be really good if I could play more often. I'm still new on it and unhappily I don't have so much time to play it.
The new ones look really cute as company when walking with you. Personaly, I like how Fennekin looks as a company but my fav one of those 3 is the water froggy ^^

Oh boy, lotta nostalgia jerks incoming.
Before you guys - and I mean/intend no offense - BAAWWWing about gen six, consider this; Where would Pokemon be if it was to stick with just the first or second gens? Rusted out and forgotten, like countless others.
Loosen those nostalgia goggles just a smidge and accept change to the series. The first gen isn't going anywhere, and you have to have SOME variety instead of just the first hundred and fifty. If there wasn't any, Pokemon wouldn't even exist at this time, instead just be forgotten.

I know right... if you love the first 151 then just stick to those games? No one is forcing you to play the new ones. I think it's awesome that each generation there's a new generation of kids growing up on completely different pokemon!

mayanna In reply to Aleronssword [2013-01-09 09:51:27 +0000 UTC]
I disagree with you there. Not all people criticising the new series are jerks stuck in 2001. I don't care if it's generation 1 or 6, but honestly, I think they're making them way too fast for anyone to enjoy properly and there is just no NEED for all these pokemon. Why make 15 bird pokemon that are just like Pidgey when you can just, I don't know, USE PIDGEY?
Keeping the series alive is ok, but making new pokemon this fast doesn't really allow anyone to get attached to them just like the older kids feel attached to Generations 1 and 2. Can you imagine in ten years today's kids complaining about Generation 16 and saying "Damn, I miss the old Pokemon like Fennekin"? I honestly can't.

I disagree with that too. There are some people I don't really like the design of... but I can say that for the original 151 too. What is the point of having birds that are like pidgey? well.... What is the point of the variety of animals we have in real life? We have a variety of different house hold cats, dogs, etc. Why make variation? Why not just adopt a wolf? It is nice to have variation. Maybe I want a bird pokemon but I don't like Pidgey for some reason. It is nice to have an alternative design that is essentially the same in use.
π: 0 β©: 3
mayanna In reply to IsiusMaiko [2013-01-09 12:11:04 +0000 UTC]
We're talking about a game here, not adopting a pet. If a bird pokemon has the same moves as Pidgey, same stats and same usefulness in the battle, then it is essentially a Pidgey, I don't care if it looks different and is called Dipgey or something. Try raising a wolf and a Labrador, see if there's any difference there besides name and looks.
I'm not saying that Generation 1 was flawless or that variation is bad, I meant that having a thousand Pokemon is just too complicated for anyone to remember. The whole fun of Generation 1 was that you actually COULD catch them all. Or et least recognize them all to a reasonable extent.

IsiusMaiko In reply to mayanna [2013-01-09 12:30:32 +0000 UTC]
But the game is not a super hardcore game either. It is a fun game where you go out and 'make friends' and 'learn the importance of friendship'. You can twist it however you want and make it as serious as you want, but you have to realize this game, in the end, is designed for pre-teens and young teens. I'm 22. I still play pokemon. But I accept that it is designed for children. Having a ton of pokemon is not complicated either. I have very little problem with it, and I enjoy the 'difficulty' of having to 'catch them all' now. The breeding end of it is geared more towards an older audience - and I love to breed pokemon, so having all these different pokemon with their different egg moves and what not is really neat. The variety is enjoyable.
This is single player game (with some limited multiplayer) that is mostly geared towards young children, with some elements for the older fans - not a competitive online MMO where they stick to only a few classes to make sure everything is as well balanced as possible.
It sounds to me like you are caught up in the details. My 6 year old cousins play the new pokemon games and don't find it 'difficult'. Pokemon is about fun. If you don't find it fun anymore, don't play. But obviously the path they have taken it is successful. I do wish they would make a separate game geared for their older audience (me) - but I don't wish for the entire franchise to go that way.

mayanna In reply to IsiusMaiko [2013-01-09 15:19:53 +0000 UTC]
I don't quite see your point here. I understand that it is a series for children, and simply switching 'new' pokemon to the 'old' ones wouldn't exactly make it an adult series. From what I understand, you're saying that things like stats, moves and usefulness is not the most important for the kids, ok. But then again, if someone would pick a "newer" Pigdey over an "older" one just because it looks better, then why can't I say I would prefer to play with Charmander over Tepig even though they're more or less the same? (yeah, I know they're not) And yet, newer games do not provide this opportunity.
Also, I do enjoy playing the new games too, which does not mean I don't get to criticise them.

Each game takes place in a new area. The wild animals where I live are going to be different from say the animals in Australia. Now, it is true that these places are somewhat close together, and so a huge variance wouldn't be so likely... but welcome to the realm of video games.
My point about wanting a game oriented for the older audience wasn't about the new or old pokemon - it was that we all have our own desires for changes, but it doesn't mean it is going to happen.
You can get old pokemon in the new games through things like trading, safari zones, playing the radio on a certain channel, etc etc. Sure, it is limited, but so what? If you are attached to your old pokemon, trade them to your new game.
Of course you can criticize the game, but make sure your critique has value. You really sound like you are just complaining to complain - because you are mentally stuck in the first couple gens.

mayanna In reply to IsiusMaiko [2013-01-09 16:42:41 +0000 UTC]
What would you call a constructive criticism then? I don't hate the new generations, all I'm saying here is that they appear too quickly. It wasn't even two years since Generation 5 came out and I haven't even got used to that one yet. And now, bam, new generation. Designing a Pokemon and introducing it to the canon is not an easy business, therefore, WHY make this many Pokemon if most people end up forgetting them?
Pokemon is such a canonical series by now that even if they'd finally slow down on "discovering" new Pokemon, they'd still be able to produce new great games using areas and characters already existing. Most games follow the exact same pattern (pick a starter, defeat an evil team, get 8 badges, beat the Champion), the only difference being the kind of Pokemon you encounter. Maybe time to change something there?
Anyway, think about Mario or Zelda. They've been using the same characters for over 20 years now and somehow their games are still not dead. I wonder why.

IsiusMaiko In reply to mayanna [2013-01-09 16:46:38 +0000 UTC]
Mario and Zelda are very different games. They are not about collections.
Pokemon already experiments with new play styles through their other games like pokemon rancher or whatever it was, and pokemon mystery dungeon, colosseum, hey you Pikachu, snapshot, etc etc. And how do you know pokemon XY will not be so linear?

mayanna In reply to IsiusMaiko [2013-01-10 11:18:53 +0000 UTC]
Most of the games you listed have been released in the late 90s. As much as I liked them, they are all spin-off games. And I think it's safe to say X and Y would have a similar pattern, because they already have starters and a new Generation.
I see no point in discussing this further, really. I don't like the fact that they're making a new generation already, because I think it's rushed and unnecessary. I think the approach they're taking trying to refresh the game by making a bunch of new Pokemon is not working - Pokemon is still alive, but it has not been as popular as during the first generation ever again. Maybe I don't like the new generations as much because I'm being "stuck in the past" or maybe it's just because they are really worse. We'll never know, but in the end, why would it matter, really?

IsiusMaiko In reply to mayanna [2013-01-10 11:47:55 +0000 UTC]
You... ... Sigh. You really don't understand how these things work.
[link] NOT just from late 1990s. I listed the ones I played when I was little, that is why they are from earlier times - there are many I haven't played that have come out since then. Of course they are spin-offs, I was talking about experimenting with different game types.
They have made a new, main-line game every couple of years, this generation is nothing new at all.
You are very much stuck in the past. I have played every single version. Each version has its ups and downs but over all they are improving. I thoroughly enjoyed Pokemon Black/White 2. They are getting better, not worse.
You have to keep in mind the type of games they are. If they were a PC game or whatever, where they could just release patches and whatnot, it would be very different in how they develop the games.
Anyway. If you don't want to play the new generation, if you feel it is rushed, then there is no reason for you to even consider it. It isn't like they are pushing a new patch or content update on your previous games. You are complaining to complain.
Ciao.

And you are determined to make me admit that, because you just can't let go of the fact that someone has a different opinion? Fair enough. I actually started by telling somebody else entirely that it is rather unfair to call those who prefer earlier games "nostalgia jerks", you were the one who pushed into the disscussion. And I am the one who complains to complain?
Seems that no matter what I say, you won't believe that there may be any other possible reason to like any older Pokemon version over a newer one, aside from being a stuck up idiot who likes retro stuff. Which is why I think there's no point in trying to convince you otherwise.

Not to mention you could have a bird pokemon like pidgey that especializes in totally different things, like a speedy bird, a high hp bird, a defensive bird, an attacking bird, there is SO much room for variety and that's without going into the designs, which everyone feels so strongly about anyway.
π: 0 β©: 1
mayanna In reply to Kyle-Dove [2013-01-09 12:39:05 +0000 UTC]
Talk about variation. If in Platinum you didn't pick Chimchar as your starter, your only other choice for a fire type was Ponyta. So what is the point of making all these Pokemon if in the end you end up stuck with just a few that you maybe do not like so much?
Keep the new Pokemon coming, just give them some time to sink in and don't kick the old ones out of the games.

I'm a terrible person? Aren't you just equally as terrible for judging me despite not even knowing me? That would be like saying somebody's cooking sucked, because they cooked you stew one day that you didn't like... You don't know if everything else they cook is good or not, you're merely being judgmental because they cooked a single dish you don't approve of.
If the metaphore is too difficult for you to understand, I said something you don't agree with; you got overly-emotional due to this comment made by me, somebody you've never met and know nothing about. You judged my entire being as terrible and "rude".
Shake your head all you want, doesn't make you any less wrong in this situation. Not sure if you know this: Pokemon's a game, people have different personalities and opinions. With those factors, you have to wear your big-boy pants and know everything isn't as it seems (quoting "The Karate Kid"). So if you'd calm down and let your jimmies un-ruffle (as I've somehow ruffled them for you), you'd perhaps think over this situation realistically.
"Plenty of pokemon are designed to look stupid (Slowpoke, Stunfisk) but 'thank god it's not official'?"
Wait... so you think I'm terrible and rude because I said a Pokemon looks stupid?
In case you didn't know, the user who posted this picture didn't create that Pokemon, so no feelings where hurt here besides your apparently, but besides that: if something's bad, it's bad. I could break it more gently, like "Doesn't look too good," or I could be the bastard to give the cold, hard truth.
