I know! I kind of like that pokΓ©mon designs are a little colour themed depending on what type they are, but it doesn't hurt to make something, for example, water, some other colour than blue sometimes. Though I have to admit that Politoed confused me a lot when I was a kid. I was so certain it was a grass type just because...well. Green.
But I'd really like a little more diversity. ; w ; I'm a geek and like to build colour themed teams, but still make them versatile. But it's hard since most of the times the pokΓ©mons of a certain colour is of the same type.

This is absolutely gorgeous! Love Pokemon & love how you made them in all the correct sizes in relation to each other. Awesome sprites; wish gamefreak could only see this... (I often wonder if they look at fanart to see what the viewers like before coming together to make a new game?) It would be cool to know if they looked at your stuff, don't you think?

Kyle-Dove In reply to LEN-Komix [2012-05-20 20:18:29 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I worked hard to try make the sizes a bit more realistic. I wish GameFreak did do that. I went to london to see Sugimori and Masuda and I took them a portfolio of my work but they wouldn't take it. That makes me think they don't.

LEN-Komix In reply to Kyle-Dove [2012-05-26 14:00:47 +0000 UTC]
Really?! You actually did that? How awesome!
That makes you an even more cooler person in my mind. To have the courage to approach them like that with a portfolio and such, you know? No, I am proud that you did that, even though they turned you down. I don't think that too many companies like Nintendo accept content or considerations from people outside of their group too often. Maybe they think that it would ruin their image of the game? In my opinion, the big thing that separates a Japanese animation or gaming company from an American one is the amount of people who control the eternal vision for the end product. If you look at a Studio Ghibli Film, Miyazaki provides his team with most of the key animations and concept art, and the rest of the support images used in the film have to be overseen by him. The efforts are made to mach his vision for the movie as best as they can; his style is learned by the rest of the team. American animation companies don't tend to work in that way nowadays. Everyone on the team has almost equal impute as to what they want the end product to be. (They are allowed to voice their opinion!) However, this can cause the end result to look something like a jigsaw puzzle... But its components are works of art in themselves, so its hard to say which way is better. I think that it all lays root to the cultural differences between the United States and Japan. I guess that I am considered third party in this case, because I am Canadian, but I am also viewing this take place from outside the main circle of events. In my opinion, the idea of their being a Sensei doesn't really exist anymore in American culture. Everyone is viewed as being at the same level due to the society's recent indulgence of equality. Not that there's anything wrong with it and I am all-for letting the little guy having some strength when standing next to a more experienced artist, but I don't believe that it has always been this way. Disney movies used to be powered by Walt Disney, and now no single image of an animator for the new movies exists.
Umm... I made this reply way too long again, didn't I?
Sometimes I never know what I may put, but when an idea flows, I like to build on it. Sorry! (Perhaps I should think about posting this to my blog? I think I will. *Thanks for indirectly giving me a good topic for my next post!) hehe!

It would be hilarious if Wailord's overworld sprite was like that in HeartGold and SoulSilver. I doubt it would fit on the screen.

Tirtuoga is my favorite water pokemon, will you be making an underwater/swimming Carracosta even though it is bipedal? ...and will you be mounting Hilbert onto all surfable water types?
...But so far, excellent job. Are you still working towards an MMO?
