Description So after watching Keep Calm and Flutter On, I was sure this scene would be among the first ones vectored. So I watched and waited. No vector. It was mystifying.

So I figured, why not? How hard could it be? I downloaded Inkscape, grabbed a screenshot, and learned myself how to vector. Apparently I have a knack? At least, I think it turned out well.

I know she's not wearing her Element, but I kinda liked how it looked without. I'll probably go in and add it later - not tonight, though, as my eyes are already crossing and her Element is lots of fiddly little curves. I also want to try my hand at adding in her lower body.

Free to use, just please credit me. And it would be nice if you tossed me a note or a comment telling me where you used it. :3

So how hard was vectoring anyway? I have always thought about giving it a shot.

Not too hard, actually. I did pretty much everything with bezier curves, and in the process got a lot of practice finding out how to make them be the curve I wanted. It's different from most drawing in that every shape/line/area is its own, free-standing object, almost like a lot of tiny layers, and you can shuffle them, so you can do stuff like match line edges by actually overshooting the mark and putting the one line underneath the other.

I imagine it's a bit of a paradigm shift if you're used to drawing traditionally, but, well, I'm not. I'm a mathematician and a bloody-minded stickler for tiny details, so that may be why vectoring kinda seemed to come natural to me. :3

Inkscape (available here - [link] ) is 100% free, very much the Illustrator to GIMP's Photoshop, so you don't need to invest anything more than time to give it a try.
