Statistics:

Despite making up only about 13% of the population (USA) POC make up over 40% of the homeless population. (1)

In 2019, police killed 1,099 people. 24% of those killed were black. (2)

Black people are 3x more likely to be killed by police than white people. They are also 1.3x more likely to be unarmed. (2)

8 of the largest city police departments kill black men at higher rates than the US murder rate. (2)

From 2013-2019, 99% of killings by police did not result in the officers being charged with a crime. (2)

Black people are unemployed about 2x as often as white people. (3)



And those are only a few ways that POC are disadvantaged in comparison to white people. Let's stop pretending we live in a post-racist society. We don't. And until we realize we don't, we won't make any progress. It's not enough to be not racist. We need to be anti-racist.
Let's stop sweeping this under the rug. Let's take a stand. Let's do something. Let's take action.
