These are all great!
I'm a dollmaker too and love the polymer clays and cloth dolls too.
I've posted a chibi Dr. paper doll and am working on a Martha paper/cloth doll.

You can find it in the kid's section of your local craft store.
I buy the white and color it with watercolor paints, then spray with acrylic so that the color doesn't come off on sweaty hands.

These are my same Crayola Model Magic figurines I've been making all year. Just changed my technique a bit. I finally figured out how to get them to stand (mostly) without using a base. I usually mix the color into the modeling compound. I did this for skin tones, and for Jack and Jackie's coats. The rest I decided just to paint. It's faster, I had 8 figurines to do in less than a week. It takes about 2 hours to complete one. Then I gave everyone a nice coat of clear acrylic paint for that shine(and to keep the paint from coming off on my hands.)

I use Crayola Model Magic. You can find it at your local hobby store in the kiddie section. I use water colors for my painting, you could use acrylic too, but I prefer the water colors since it washes well. This stuff is really forgiving, it doen't crack. It responds well to water, if it's getting too dry to work, I dip my fingers in some water and work it in. When dried, it feels rather like a dried out Tootsie Roll. You can also color them with markers.
