Yeah I saw that as well in the 2017 movie. For the 2017 movie I think it was because they were worried about getting the Kim x Trini fans and the Jason x Billy fans upset, no idea where those pairings came from just because Jason befriended Billy, and Kim befriended Trini. Also if they were bringing in Tommy they were worried about getting Tommy and Kim fans upset, why they had to have Amy Jo Johnson and Jason David Frank camo as a couple in the movie. For Turbo it was the same despite the fact that Tommy had moved on with Kat, they were worried about making sure to get the Tommy and Kim fans to come see the movie at the possibility of those two having a moments, kind of the reason they had to have the line of Kim about Tommy when they were capture.

Yeah, they even paired Kim and Billy sometimes. I just feel it would create drama if they did Jason and Kim. Like have Jason have a crush on her but then Tommy comes along. That's some great tension right there if done right hehe

I think it because Billy and Kim where the last of the original five and Billy got into gymnast with Kim, and the shippers thought that there was something growing between them. It didn't help that when they were turn bad Billy was acting like Kim was his girl, or the fact that they did after school science experiments together like when they body switch. I think Jason and Kimberly did have a crush on each other, like the fact that Kim first thought is to run to Jason when she was getting hit on by Skull when they were in detention, and there was hints before and after Tommy was a Ranger something going on.

That is why the way they where in Turbo: Power Rangers movie make more sense if they are in a relationship, from explaining why they are together scuba diving and not with the people they are supposed to be with, to Jason starting to snap out of the mind control when he see Kimberly trying to pull him up, and he fully able to break out of the mind control when Kim was getting attack, and we can't forget like how Kat congrats Tommy, Kim congrats Jason when the three guys won the martial art contest, and they were holding hands when the check was being presented. So yeah I have to agree with the original scrip of Turbo and say they were together

I really hope they explore their relationship. Even in the boom comics there were hints. Like in tha solo Pink Ranger mini series.
