Description
This ship is a take at a more "realistic" type of space travel, though even it includes a McGuffin to get past that pesky relativity issue. A massive personnel transport vessel designed to ferry colonists to the new world, the ECS - 1 SPEARHEAD was the first vessel of her kind, using 3rd Generation Wormhole Generator Drive.

When at sub-light speeds, the deflector dish at the front of the ship is used to repel space debris and push it gently out of the way. The deflector creates a massive magnetic field to push metallic debris out of the way and a multi-layer design to break-up and disperse ice, rock and other debris it comes in contact with.

The deflector array opens up in the center to allow the WGD to engage, exciting quantum particles in front of the vessel. This allows the ship to bypass the relativistic limits imposed by trying to accelerate to and past c.

ESC ships carry a crew compliment of 35 people to manage and maintain the ship, and 120 colonial passengers.

Colonial Passengers are outfitted with a specialized suit to reduce muscle loss during transit and are put in the 3rd spinning ring and placed in a medical induced coma, monitored by the medical staff each day. A combination of drug and nano-technology therapy ensures that muscle atrophy doesn't occur during transit. Inducing coma's reduces oxygen and food requirements.

Fusion reactors power the WGD and primary systems, and backup power is generated by the solar panels on each of the rings.

Massive radiators are affixed to the rear end of the ship, and can be extended / retracted as needed. Though retraction only occurs when the ship enters a wormhole for transit.

Two docks on the "upper" and "lower" sections of the ship allow for transport vessels to dock with the ship. Two specialized vehicles are used. The first when arriving at the colony is the crago container transport. These ships dock with the ECS and lower the cargo pods into their holds (the cargo containers being on a conveyor-type system, can be rotated before a ship docks so its ready to be loaded on). When cargo has be removed, another ship can dock and colonial passengers can board to be ferried to the surface.

All ECS ships are fitted with 2 Canadarm's for exterior maintenance, inspection and docking purposes.
