Oh my gosh, Kyou actually finished something! =OOWith a background, no less!
I hope you guys like it, spent hours trying to get it to look right! (Even though there's still splenty of mistakes...*coughcough* >__> )

I like how you've coloured the eyes, very nice. My only crit would be that his ears are not very noticeable, try adding a darker shadow on the out side so they have more definition?

The biggest problem that I don't really like on this is that the line art on his hair and clothing is a bit too dark...compared to the wings, bandage, ears, etc.

I think you need to find a balance between the line work and the colouring until you find something that suits your style

oh my god. i hate lighting. i'm terrible at it. i can't know how where to put shadows to save my life. X_X But still good work. and yeah. everything is not perfect.

I don't think your shadows look too bad, really. But they need to look a little more realistic. Try studying the shadows on everyday objects, take note of where the light is coming from, etc.
You don't learn where shadows go overnight, though. I'm definitely still learning. ^^";
When starting, make sure you only pick on source of light. When you feel more comfortable with shading, then you can throw in a couple other different sources.

Because the skin is like a damn gradient! I can't even pinpoint the shadow on real humans if the light source is so... i don't know. many?

So color skin in gradient style, then. ^^ I usually put shadows on humans around the hair, the nose, bottom lip, and the sides of the face....and I just kind of guess on the rest of the skin. xD
