Description
Halo: The Battle of AntecedentA Covenant Task Force, lead by Fleet Master Arum Nar ‘Exustee in the Divine Temptation, attacks the colony-planet of Antecedent to obtain a Forerunner artifact. Their initial attack kills most of the colonists and the military base located on the planet. Admiral Mathew Barter is sent by the UNSC with the Eighteenth Fleet to defend Antecedent, resulting in a space battle above the planet. The “smart” artificial intelligence Thanatos, UNSC serial number TNT 0276-8, serves aboard the UNSC Carrier Iron Sword as its AI.
Meanwhile, the 68th Marine Division is sent to the planet’s surface, rendezvousing with a number of surviving marines, and combats the Covenant on the surface. Thanatos, rummaging through the Covenant’s numerous communications, discovers an alien structure within the volcanic fields of Antecedent, and relays to Barter the information that the Covenant appears to be attempting to reach the area. He also notes the possible existence of an alien AI, hailing from the structure.
Ok, so now for that info on Antecedent
Antecedent is part of the binary star system Epsilon Aurigae; a blue-white Class A star and a smaller orange Class K star. Two planets orbit these stars. The closest is Aurigae-One, a small, non-habitable planet about the size of Pluto. Aurigae-Two, or Antecedent, is located within the Habitable Zone. It is about 1.5 times the size of earth, and whose atmospheric pressure at sea level was about 1.17 atm. Three moons orbit the planet. The two smallest moons are about the same size, and orbit the planet relatively closely. The third moon is quite large and more distant to Antecedent, about the size of Mercury and two times farther from the planet as its sister moons. Antecedent contains two separate ecosystems. Approximately 80% of the planet is deciduous and coniferous in nature, like Earth’s North America; with forests, plains, mountains, and (some large) bodies of water. The rest of the planet is highly volcanic in nature, located near in the western hemisphere just below the equator. No colonization was attempted here, due to the volatile nature of the area, including even basic cartography, and thus has remained largely unexplored.
In the first deviation you can see the volcanic fields in the lower right corner of the planet. Here the fields would be located on the far side of Antecedent, so they aren't in view. However, you can see the three moons quite well.
And of course, I added two Assault Carriers. While the first deviation "takes place" just prior to the ground assault on the planet this one takes place after the assault, just before The Eighteenth Fleet arrives.
A final point for you astronomers and just generally universe-savvy people, Epsilon Aurigae is a real star system in this galaxy, and its binary star system is an Eclipsing binary system, and it does have a class A star, though the other companion's classification is unknown. I went with a class K, so yeah...
Note: the planet here is actually Kashyyyk from a Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith screen shot. The moons are from Jupiter and/or Saturn (I don't recall which is which), and the Assault Carriers from HD screen shots of the Halo 3 announcement trailer.

Rather an interesting story, I enjoyed it to be honest, I created a Fleet for the Sangheili and a flagship for a story, but to be quite honest I prefer your names for them

Thanks a lot. If I were an Elite Shipmaster I would always have my ship named Divine Temptation; the name's been with me since I first considered it.
As for the story, that was just a small backdrop of the RPG's story. Unfortunately it died. Fun while it was going on though; the Covenant had just made it to the volcanic fields when we quit.

Thank you. If you want to know, right now the RPG has hit a small standstill as people haven't been posting much (though hopefully that will end). However, right now the Covenant Task Force is taking on the Eighteenth Fleet in space, while forces are righting a three-side war on the ground (Humans vs Covenant, with Sentinels backing up the humans).
