Description
External Film Link ---> [link]A basic overview of 2D animation in CS5 Adobe Photoshop. This tutorial has a brief explanation for people who are new to animation or new to Photoshop, how to begin your experience. Paced and live, this commentary of my simple sketch animation is just my way of trying to give back to the community.
If you have any questions, feel free to comment and I will do my best to answer. I am new to this tutorial thing so go easy on me.
(Note: After rendering, I realized the last leg I drew is off. I am saying this for my own and your benefit. Thanks!)

I'm going to be watching this over and OVER for my animations. If you would like to see what level I'm at now, look up "Carodian" (My OTHER account, for posting stuff)

You will need to save these files as a gif. You will likely need to look up how as I have a more recent version of photoshop. It might be under export options.Β

You need to see what your playrate is when you preview it in photoshop. There should be an option to change the playback rate from 29.99 frames a second to something like 15 frames a second. Save for web IS where the gif option is, yes.

Ignore the file. The option is in photoshop. You will need to open the original PS document and alter it there. There should be an option in your timeline menu that says "Set Timeline Framerate." Adust your FPS (Frames per second) to something lower. You may need need to play around with it until you get something that looks smooth. The less frames you have draw an action, the few FPS you should have. Make sure to click Okay when exiting. Preview and then try rendering out again.

Your legs get longer. I think your first step should be working on keeping things the same size as they move.Β

Keeping them the same mkay shouldn't be too difficult. I know the wings are mess up as well larger an than smaller.

Oh I don't have that option I was seeing that in your description of the timeframe tutorial with the blinking eye and the basic animation on CS5 but I only have PS CS2 I believe I set each frame delay by 0.1 sec total of 13 frames.

Thank you for posting this! Not everyone can afford expensive art schools and people like me, that is a blessing. Thank you!
(I have been fighting with the non-frame animator for weeks) XD

A lot f people have been having that issue. I would read up on it on google. Try reseting your workspace or reinstalling the program. I am afraid I do not know how to fix this issue presently.

I think I figured it out. I have the "white rabbit" photo shop, which was the prototype. SO I don't have the full Cs5 package

This was very helpful, thank you!
One question: the part where you went from the frames back to timeline, the timeline looked funny. How did you make it go back to the way it was? I can't figure out how to fix it...

bow do you save the animation to deviantart. ive been try to save it but its not working. also how can you save it as an avatar here in deviantart? thanks.

You need special permission to upload video files. But anyone can upload an animated gif file. Go to save for web and devices, make sure your tab under preset is on GIF, if it is a looped image, like my avatar, change once at the bottom (above the play button) to forever.... You can play to preview and adjust your settings here. Then save! GIFs as submissions need a preview image, avatars don't. Good luck!

I really like your tutorial. But the only problem I'm having is that I can't change from storyboard to timeline, and storyboard is so hard to use like you said.
Is there another way of changing the storyboard to timeline?
